passenger sliding door not closing all the time

53030 Views 84 Replies 50 Participants Last post by  POTTOBON
The passenger sliding door is not always closing. It will pull fully forward, try try and pull in and latch and then reverse (repeatedly). Had it into the dealership and they were able to recreate the issue when the car was on a slight incline (I also sent them video). Both the repair shop and the body shop looked at it and they say that there is nothing wrong with the door and that is just going to happen sometimes "it is a known problem". As my driveway has a slight incline (only about 5 in over 4 feet front to back and 2 inches over 4 feet left to right), more often then not the door will not close without some amount of assistance. I have never had the problem with the drivers side sliding door. Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions before I start a lemon law complaint?

Yes, I asked about it while getting an oil change this morning.
I assume it's out of warranty, right?
my 2017 pacifica jas the exactly same problem at driver side 50% of the time, and it is supper annoying. with some man other recalls pacifica has, i m not sure my next minivan will continue to pacifica.

You can see if the TSB might help.
We just got back from a 2,000 mile family trip, after having to have our radio/GPS unit replaced, and had the sliding door issue every day! What a drag. It happens about every 3rd-4th time on both sides! Two of our daughters who have older vans, Kia and Honda, had considered getting a Pacifica next time but have both said 'NO WAY' after watching ours develop problems. Ours is a well cared for 2018 limited. I'm going to start looking for a more reliable vehicle. We like the van but these mounting issues are bugging us.
Same issue on my 2017. I have been having this problem even before warranty expired. Dealer updated software a while back. When I open drivers side, the door will open halfway and try to close. Car is now past manufacturers warranty and dealer wants to charge to diagnose and fix. A few times my kid has almost had door close on them and would have if I wasnt there. This is a major safety issue. Maybe chrysler will recall when a couple of arms or legs taken off or even worse. Almost $50,000 vehicle and this is unacceptable. We as a customer shouldnt have to pay to have this fixed when its a known issue.
Same issue on my 2017. Dealer wanted $478 to recalibrate the door. I said no until I had time to research the issue. It is more of a nuisance but still should not be occurring. It has been happening intermittently for the past 6 mos. I am now out of warranty.
I have a 2018 and am having the same problem on my driver’s side sliding door. It’s a ridiculous problem and I’m just over 50,000 miles. The dealership wants 143 dollars just to look at it. Why isn’t this a recall or a free software flash? @ChryslerCares

A recall is for an item that is safety related and is happening to a large percentage of the fleet. I do not see this issue as either of these.

At your mileage, if it just started happening, it can just be wear and tear. Things get old an wear out.

Lets see what ChryslerCares has to say.

Hello Herknav,
There is an software update that is available, however due to your mileage there will be an out of pocket expense.

I have the same issue with my 2018 Pacifica LX.
The driver side sliding door is latching 80% of the time. When it fails, sometimes another attempt will help, but sometimes a slight pressure needs to be applied on the rear side of the sliding door to help it latch.
Please advise

I have the '18 and 3 out of 5 times when the door electrically slides closed and tries to latch it bounces right back open once or twice, extremely frustrating and angering. For anyone is this truly a software update that a dealer must do or a mechanical problem with the latch itself?o_O🥵

This is a software update the dealer can do.
There is a technical bulletin out for this problem. They reprogram the sliding door control module.
Where's the technical bulletin? I'm having this exact issue as well.

Any luck...I'm in this same situation!

Its a shame to have this corrected I have to let the dealership put their expensive meat hooks on it. Not a huge fan of Dealerships and their raping kniving ways..

See posts 54 and 44 of this thread for software update info to take to the dealer. I had the update done over a year ago and it solved the problem.
