I'm a noob in regards to vehicle video systems and it's been years since I really watched DVDs/BDs.

1) Is there a better way to get to the movie faster without having to go through all the menus? So far we just bought Finding Dory and it takes like 3 minutes and several button pushes to blast past menu screens and previews just to get to the movie.

2) On top of that, the Uconnect resets itself if I turn the car off briefly (gas stop, brief parking lot stop) and my kid will be watching and it just shuts itself off.... so I then have to go thru the whole menu process just to get the movie back up and running.

Am I missing something here to make this a bit more effecient?

Unfortunately, this has more to do with the way the disc is authored than the Pacifica. Some have non-skippable previews and some don't. Some have resume disabled and some don't. I've been ripping movies to a USB flash drive for this reason.

Bill is correct that if you cycle the ignition to Accessory before getting out, the disc will continue playing. Then when you get back in and start the car, the screens will just go black for a quick second and continue playing.

Thanks, I will attempt to put the car back into accessory mode when in this situation... and the USB option is something I plan on looking into more later on. Has there been any discussion on using accessory mode to run the Uconnect for any particular amount of time? I've found myself in parking lots for ~10-15 minutes sometimes and I've wonder what is ok for the van and battery. Should the van be turned on after any particular interval on acc?

In theory, it could run for a long time in accessory mode without risking the battery. However, if you leave it in accessory for too long, the car thinks you did it by mistake and automatically turns it off. Not sure what that amount of time is, but it gets annoying at drive-in theaters!

What do you use to rip dvds and BD? I may do the same to simplify things.
I use handbrake for DVDs. For BDs, I use MakeMKV first and then handbrake to shrink the file down.
