WIll the hybrid let me pre heat the cabin on cold days from my phone or on a schedule? i dont see anything with a phone app yet for the hybrid

This would be a major fail if they didnt include that standard feature in other electric cars

If you scroll down on Chrysler's Pacifica Hybrid page, there's a quick glimpse of the smartphone app. I don't immediately see anything about pre-heat, but that app definitely has more info and functionality than what's available in the current Uconnect smartphone app for the regular Pacifica.

thanks, the fact that it isnt listed answers my question, it will not pre heat using the battery, sounds like the engine will have to be ON to use AC< which would be a REAL bummer considering the limited range on battery, this means that in winter the only way to heat the cabin is with engine......huge oversight

One of the review videos said it has a resistive heating element so that the engine is not required for heat. Of course, the more electricity that's used for climate control, the less will be available for driving range.

I would think that if you're HOME when doing this... and still plugged-in, it could(should?) act like the Teslas do and pre-heat (or cool) drawing from the current of the house, not the car's batteries.

I do not KNOW that it works that way, but would HOPE it does.

I wouldn't be surprised if it can work that way. We'll likely need to wait until somebody here gets one to really discover all the little details.

Hi kilimats,

The Hybrid models will have the remote start option. I don't know at this point how it works in terms of the engine vs. battery, but they definitely will have remote start.

My 2013 Leaf could do that, it was awesome when it was charging in the mornings or just before I left work. I'd open the app, turn on the heater, walk down the stairs and into the parking lot, unplug the charger and step into a warm car with a heated steering wheel! Definitely one of the nicer perks of operating an electric vehicle.

Why does a hybrid need to be remote started? Isn't it always ready to go?
Remote start is really a misnomer for the hybrid since it doesn't actually start the engine. A more accurate description would be remote preconditioning. Basically, it lets you turn on the climate, seat heaters/vents, heated steering wheel while it's plugged in so that you don't have to use battery power to heat those things ups.

As one uses preconditioning - would remote access allow the setting of the various temps up or down ..or do you think it would just resort to the settings (temps, heated steering.., seat warming/cooling) last used in the car ? And would the car have to be plugged in per se to enable this preconditioning ?

No sure how granular you'll be able to get with it. There may be more info in the hybrid owner's manual that's available, but I haven't read through all of it.
