Radio / Lights Staying On

Two times today we shut off our Limited and the engine stopped, however; the radio stayed on as did the interior and running lights.

Started it back up and shut it off a few times and they still stayed on.

We started it up again, drove for 30 minutes and when we stopped again, everything shut off just fine.

A DVD had been playing (but when the grandbabies fell asleep I took it out :wink2:) - not sure if taking it out mid-movie and while the van was on made a difference ... hopefully it was just a one time glitch!

This is happening with my wife's van and it doesn't seem like a solution has been posted here unless I missed it.

It caused my wife's battery to go deadtwo days ago. We replaced the entire battery and it is still happening so it is ruining another brand new battery. Someone from Chrysler needs to post a solution on how to program the radio and power to turn off. It just started happening too so I expect it may have been a recent update as previous to this last week the radio turned off as soon as we opened a door to get out.
Try replacing the secondary, smaller accessory battery. This is the only thing that fixed mine. We also started by replacing the main battery.
I can't find anything listing the auxillary battery online or in forums. Where does that sit?? And knowing that doesn't impact the engine start function, I don't believe it will resolve the fact that our main battery is being drained so much that the car wouldn't start.
I can’t tell you where it is, but google should be able to. They definitely have one. And it can cause your regular battery to drain. When ours was bad, it got to the point that it would drain our brand new regular battery and the car wouldn’t start. I was convinced there was something really wrong with the computer system or starter or something and almost traded it in. I finally took it to the Chrysler dealership and they replaced the aux battery and all has been fine since. Do what you want, but it’s worth a shot. Just sharing our experience.
Also, there are multiple posts if you search “auxiliary battery” spelled like that.
The aux battery sits right beside the main battery in the gas models. Not sure about Hybrids.

What year is your van as some of the early 2017's did not have the Engine Start Stop (ESS) system? Is your van a Hybrid? When you come to a stop does your engine shut off and then restart when you take your foot off the break? If so then you have an Auxiliary battery which sits just to the left of your main battery in a non-hybrid version.

The thread below has a post with a video link showing how to replace the batteries. If your van has an auxiliary battery it is to the left of the main battery. A flat vent tube has to be removed so you might not see it.

My van doesn't have ESS (stop/start) so there is only one battery. Early 2017s and maybe the L with bench seat don't have ESS, so no aux battery.

If you put your van info in the signature line of account settings it will show up at the bottom of your posts and will help us answer your questions easier in the future.

You can download more extensive owner's manuals from the Mopar website if desired.
I have a 2020 Pacifica Touring L Plus that I bought in July. Just recently with only about 600 miles, it did the same thing as stated in this thread. We had driven it about 100 miles, stopping and starting it with no issues. When we got home, I shut the engine off and opened the door to get out and the dash and radio stayed on. The power switch for the radio didn’t work. I tried starting and stopping it several times with the same result. I turned radio volume down and turned the Uconnect screen off and locked the car. The battery of course was dead in the morning. It wouldn’t jump start in the morning, so I put a trickle charge on it for a while until it would jump start. I ran it for a while to charge the battery and then shut it off and everything now worked except that I now had a start/stop malfunction indicator in the dash. I took it to the dealer and explained what happened, but of course it was no longer doing it. They ended up changing the auxiliary battery under warranty to correct the start/stop issue(which it didn’t originally have). We now have 1000 miles on the car and so far so good, but my wife now doesn’t trust it.

I know this is an older thread, but I'm having the same issue with the radio and display staying on after turning of the engine and exiting the van. You can cone back 30 minutes later and they are still on. Accessories is not on and the van is off. Settings is not the culprit either. Anyone ever find the issue causing this?
Did you ever get this resolved? it is happening now on my 2017 Pacifica and the dealer had it for over a week, replaced the battery and it is still happening. They have no clue.

Did they replace the auxiliary battery as well or just the main battery? I do still have issues with the radio and display staying on but only when I try to turn the car off when I have my phone plugged in and am currently on a call through the speakers. I have to turn the car on again, hang up the call, unplug the phone, and turn the car back off, sometimes multiple times. So frustrating!

from what I understand they replaced only the one standard battery.

So far so good. Hasn’t happened again yet. Still don’t have a lot of miles on it. All they did was replace the small auxiliary battery. It wasn’t happening when I took it to the dealer. Time will tell.
Hello.. this has happened to me twice so far. I recently purchased a used 2018 Pacifica it has 36000 miles and I have had the actuator air inlet replaced which caused a terrible noise in the front dash and now this. My dashboard lights along with radio will not turn off after turning car off and opening driver door. I read in another forum that the issue is with the radio and that something malfunctioning in the radio forces the car to continue to stay awake mode even after it should turn off. My car stayed on for 2 hrs before it finally shut off.
HI... Did you happen to find the out what it was??

Hi...did you find anything out??
Hasn’t done it again since they changed the auxiliary battery.
So I just picked up my 2018 Touring L Hybrid from the dealership for a seemingly unrelated AC problem and I'm now having the same issue. My uconnect screen stays "on" but black, and my dashboard and PNDL knob is illuminated.

I just paid $1500 to the dealership to replace AC lines (I'm nearly 70k miles so out of warranty) and I am hesitant to take it back just to find out there's yet again something wrong here that will cost me an arm and a leg.

I am so sick of this van. UConnect problems x4, AC line corrosion causing leakage after only 3 winters, key fob batteries that die in 6 months, and now this.

Anyone have a DIY solve?
Strange electrical issues can often indicate an issue with the 12V battery. I would start by having that checked.
I know this is an old thread, but this was happening to me when the secondary battery was going dead. Now that I have replaced that, I haven’t had this issue anymore.
Same thing happened with my wife’s car and is currently doing it again
So this just happened to me. 2018 Gas Pacifica.
I used the information from this thread to "delete" my phone from Uconnect which immediately shut the radio and accessories off.

There is indeed a software bug. Not sure how to solve this as it is not easily reproducible.
