A company called Customtronix out of Sweden has a software product for Uconnect systems called RAX Jailbreaker that adds additional functionality. I've been running it in my Cherokee for a couple of years with great success. It's not quite ready for the Pacifica yet, but I'm working with them on a beta test. I'll post some results here for anyone who's interested. They also have a hardware add-on called Jailbreaker Connect, but I am not currently testing that.

Let me start by saying that the RAX software can disable some safety features and allow you to do things on the Uconnect screen while the vehicle is in motion, like input a navigation address. I do NOT endorse doing these things while driving. This functionality should be used by a passenger ONLY.

I installed the first beta version today, and it was pretty painless. So far, the only features that are enabled to test are the Speed Lockout and the SRT screens. The Speed Lockout isn't quite ready for prime time. Some things are no longer locked out while in motion, like Nav input and phone bluetooth pairing, but some other things are still locked out. Interestingly, if the Surround View camera is activated while stopped, it will stay activated at any speed. But if you are already in motion, the button is grayed out so it can't be activated.

The SRT screens are kinda cool. Doesn't quite turn the Pacifica into a Viper, but we can pretend! Not all the screens have data. I'm sure the Pacifica doesn't have G-Force sensors and the like.

I like screenshot 1 with all the temp gauges. Those gauges are highly useful for long distance drives up hills, through major heat, etc. It could save you from being stuck on the side of the road.

As for the time trials, it'd be fun if that field was populated with you going WOT. HAHA! I think that's the first thing I would want to test out given I've been researching how to bump the engine up to 300HP. I live up in the hills so at times the Pacifica feels like it wants to give up. It's either that or I've been spoiled by my other cars that are typically ranging from 450-650HP...

Great work and excellent contribution!

Thanks for the post GeneralTso. Is Park pro disabled? The big question for me is if the video input of the module that I want to use for mirroring is associated with the video input that is still disabled or with the Lin bus that is allowing the surround view nav and text to function. I hope it's the latter. I'm pleasantly surprised that the SRT stuff is available...they've always said that it is not available on North American software versions that weren't already SRT vehicles. I've placed the preliminary order for the Jailbreaker Connect and will update the thread as soon as I get it including how to take apart your brand new Pacifica dash?

Park Pro is not enabled in the current build that I'm testing. I'm hoping they send me an update soon that includes it.

I bet it's the lin bus since they have the Connect module working in other vehicles. Really, the only things that are not working are the things that are unique to the Pacifica, like Uconnect Theater and Surround View, which makes sense since they're kinda flying blind without a Pacifica there to test.

Yeah, I was surprised by that too. Not sure why the SRT screens work on the Pacifica but not other North American vehicles.

...including how to take apart your brand new Pacifica dash?

Just use a plastic tool to pop the bezel that goes around the 8.4" screen and AC vents straight out. The 8.4" LCD screen is attached to the bezel and comes off with it. The ETM (the Uconnect main radio box) is now visible and there are 4 bolts I think to remove it.

The 4 cameras around the outside of the vehicle do not come directly to the ETM. Instead, the 4 cameras go to a stand alone video processing box behind the glove box on the side wall under the A-pillar. Also going to this box is the reverse gear sense signal, vehicle speed sense, steering wheel angle sensor, 5 door ajar signals, and a CAN bus. This is where the entire 360 Birds Eye View image is stitched together and the resulting video signal is then sent to the ETM for display. Let us know how you do!

Subscribed. (This is a bit over my head, but looks interesting. Is this an electronic module that plugs into the system? Warranty breaker, I guess?)

Please tell me that all of those signals and sensors are actually ON the CAN bus and not discrete inputs.. (Unless of course, this module is the master for all of them.. but that data is needed elsewhere too, and not just on vehicles with the 360 degree cameras.)

This is super cool. How is it installed ? Love the gauges btw.
It's installed via USB. Once the software is available, you'll be able to purchase it from Customtronix. You would then download it, put it on a USB flash drive, and run it just like any other Uconnect update.

Jailbraker Connect is a hardware module that plugs into the back of the radio. That's what irpilot is hoping to test for us and report back. But the RAX Jailbreaker that I'm testing is 100% software. Basically, you just install a modified version of the Uconnect software over your existing version. Neither will have any effect on your warranty. The software can always be rolled back to the stock version and the Connect hardware can always just be uninstalled.

The service manual has no schematics and only very short one or two sentence descriptions of what various modules do and where they are located. Occasionally it mentions a signal coming from or going to one of the two CAN buses but in this case it doesn't.

Great info BrettP. I'm assuming it'll take a couple of weeks to get the harness and wificast module. I'll update the thread when I install everything. I'll include a couple of pics of disassembly and maybe a vid of the wificast features.

So feasibly, would there be a way to capture the video feed from the 360 camera, and the front/back cameras, and redirect it to another output, to be stored and used as a very comprehensive dashcam integrated into the body of the car?

This is a bit over my head also, but I'll try to follow along. Would programs like this allow for video from the Uconnect theater to display on the front dash while the van is in motion?
Eventually, yes. But as RAX stands today, no. I have no doubt that the guys at Customtronix will get that working, but their progress is slow because they don't have an actual Pacifica to work on. Not sure how common Pacificas are in Sweden.

Well, I just received word from Customtronix that they will be getting their hands on a Pacifica next week. Hopefully, that means they'll be able to get all the kinks worked out soon!

Yup, screen mirroring will be via their Jailbreaker Connect product. They sent me one of those to test as well, but the software button for selecting the correct input for it isn't working yet, so I haven't been able to test it.

Check it out
