Regarding the length, I agree. It's unfortunate they decided to only cover about 60%-70% of the bumper width. Other than that, it looks like a nice solution.

I went the other route and got the clear XPEL film which covers almost the entire surface. Much more costly, but it was convenient since I was having the hood/nose covered as well. Yours looks more durable/rugged.

Enjoy...!!!

So that's what an ice scrapper looks like!
Yeah... we each have our own mini-nightmares to deal with seasonally. :nerd:

You get to deal with consistent triple-digit temperatures and high humidity more than we do. Here in New England--although not as bad as our northern friends in Canada--we deal with spans of freezing temperatures of (minus) -10 degrees or lower and wind-chills that bump the perceived temps down to -20 or -30 when really bad.

Further up north and parts of upper mid-west U.S. get to see ACTUAL temperatures of -40 degrees with wind-chills knocking it down even further.

A good, QUALITY Ice Scraper (and a spare) are essential in these parts.

How do you get all that Houston ice off your windshield without a scraper? :)

I do wish there was a better place to store the ice scraper. I don't love leaving it loose in the trunk, and the 3rd row doesn't quite fold all the way flat with it there.

I might be trekking-up to the Putney area of Vermont in the next couple months to visit friends - hoping the front wheel drive Pacifica will deal "okay" with the dirt/clay mountain roads heading up to where they live. :)

I'm sure it will do fine as long as the roads aren't covered in ice. The Pacifica is the first vehicle I've owned in many years that doesn't have AWD, so I too am interested to see how it handles the Vermont winter.

You & I, both... I have gotten (too?) used to having AWD in the deep snow and ice. (Crossing fingers)

Back on-topic; I think your bumper protection will take a LOT more punishment than my invisible XPEL film.

Well, you Boston and Vermont guys do live in gorgeous parts of the country! I grew up in Virginia then Cincinnati and do sometimes miss fall colors and four full seasons. It's particularly nice down here at present. Whenever I go to Cincinnati during the winter to visit Kathy and my parents, my father in law slips an ice scraper in my vehicle for the trip home...just in case... because he really hates seeing me use a credit card to scrape frost. I never know where he hides the scraper until I get home and unpacked and I now have a collection of about fifteen, so if the ice age hits Houston I have all my neighbors covered.

Back to the thread...I ordered one of those bumper protectors today. I think it looks pretty good on your van generaltso like it was meant to be there all along.

In the "old days" when I was younger... and less responsible... I would just go back into my car and grab a cassette case (or a CD case when I got older) to scrape frost since I was too stubborn (cheap) to go buy a scraper. :D

I too used the cassette cases and later the cd cases.....I too did the xpel, I have the whole front done, but they didn't do the rear, so I paid 1/2 as they only did 1/2 the job.....so I called Xpel and got the rear protector for 49.00 and they were to send me the door cups for 10.00, but they sent the whole front end, mirror, hood package instead. I have yet to open to see if this ultimate package has the door cups. So if I ever need to redo, I guess I have a whole new set.

I finally got around to installing the rear bumper protector that I had purchased a while ago. I looked around, but this is the only one that I was able to find.

It's not bad, but I do wish it was longer so that more of the bumper was covered. It's good enough for now, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for other options that may come out.
Not bad. Length is needed! The rental I drove did not have the protection and it showed.

Side note, wish they allowed a black plastic trim for the Touring L Plus. I cringe at all the off white color plastic and how dirty that will get.

It's back in stock now at $70. Is this that much better than the generic "universal fit" ones on Amazon? There's a few under $20 on Amazon with good reviews. One even has two lengths to choose from 35" and 41"

By my measurement, our trunk opening is about 54" wide though.

I'm also considering just putting the clear paint protection film on the bumper.

Cant agree more, having lived for last 17 years in north-east we do get to enjoy all 4 seasons unlike other parts of country. I'm going to order this bumper protector, atleast something is better than having nothing.
