What is the button in between the 911 and assist button for? If it's for the auto dimming for night driving, should a light illuminate? That light comes on when you hit the assist button but I swore it also came on when you turn on the dimming function. How do I know if the auto dimming is on? Or is it automatic? And there is no indication that it's on or off?

If your model is equipped with the auto dimming mirrors, that button turns the auto dimming off and on. It's illuminated with a white light when on and dark when off. Here's what the manual says about it.

Automatic Dimming Mirror — If Equipped
This mirror automatically adjusts for headlight glare from
vehicles behind you. You can turn the feature on or off by
pushing the button at the base of the mirror. A light to the
left of the button will illuminate to indicate when the
dimming feature is activated. The sensor to the right of the
button does not illuminate.
NOTE: This feature is disabled when the vehicle is in
REVERSE.
