Yup just saw this too. About time something is done about this issue.
Note that they are NOT planning to fix the actual problem. Here's a paragraph labeled: "How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component"

?????

An earlier recall that resulted in a diode burning out shorting in the PIM disabling the vehicle was resolved by a software update and the issue has never returned. Why should the actual part need to be replaced when software parameters would be the root cause of the failure? You could endlessly replace that part to have it fail repeatedly until the root cause is addressed. In this case, it appears to be a software over-voltage (again with the PIM) causing something to burn and short over time.

If the issue is directly related to a harness assembly defect (not software) and not fixed via transaxle replacement, I see this as a coming major class action even if failures occur outside the warranty as this has been made known as a possible physical defect which means the vehicle would not be reliable at any point driving.

Note that their "solution" will be:

As I read this, the problem will still occur...it's just that you'll have minute or two to get out of traffic before they shut everything down.

Doesn't sound much like a fix to me.
From this description, it is a wiring connector that may short. I see no way any software update can 'fix' a faulty wiring connection.

Looks like our 2021 PacHy Limited is among the affected. Sounds like a "workaround", not a fix of the original defect, but still worthwhile if it reduces the likelihood of an abrupt loss of motive power. You'd still be stranded, but at least you had time to pull over. Few drivers would react appropriately promptly to the new message, so an education campaign for is needed, as in, "when you see this message, don't ignore it, pull over -- you have NNN seconds before the engine will quit." Overall, a lame and disappointing response. They should be pre-emptively replacing or repairing these transmissions at the owner's convenience.

They claim this issue doesn't exist for brand new cars, so I'd assume if you hit it, and have your transmission replaced, it'll actually solve the issue moving forward. Still shitty, but better than what was happening before.
By the look of the number of vehicles recalled, it really looks like its every PacHy built from the beginning of production up to January 9, 2023.

I wonder if General Cable Industries Inc is on the hook for any of this?
They had a problem like this with 4xe wranglers that required a software update
So the software update is just to give you enough time to pull over. Question is if you encounter this issue outside of warranty, will the replacement of the burned component be covered, Or if another recall will come out later to fix the issue and avoid the connector to be burned.

Sounds like it's internal to the transaxle, so I would think an extended warranty on it might be the best you could hope for.
It makes sense to first put out the software update first. Hopefully the fix is not far out.

What happens to the ones that were sold in Canada during this time frame? Just for kicks I went on the USA Chrysler notification of the recall and found that my serial number is one of those in the recall. Nothing from Chrysler Canada as yet. Confused and what to make of this for those north of the border. I thought that the 2022 crop would be free of problems like. If I would have been aware of this I would have hung on to my 2018 ice model.

I logged into my Canadian MOPAR account and it shows the recall for my 2021 PacHy already. You will be hearing more soon.

This recall is being done voluntarily by FCA, it’s not being ordered by regulators. Search your VIN on the Canadian Chrysker site.

Brand new ‘22 pacifica hybrid. Bought it 4 months ago. 5k miles. It’s been at the dealership for 2 weeks because of this problem. Now it needs a brand new transmission. But didn’t my car have a brand new transmission when it was built 4 months ago? Now I’m hoping for a buyback.

Looks like they found the source of the shutdown-while-driving issue and have a fix! See the article for full details.

Nothing from Chrysler Canada as yet
Note that I have not heard anything from Chrysler US yet. According to the recall docs, they are planning to start notifying owners and dealers on March 8.

I got notice of the recall because I'm registered with NHTSA and they have the preliminary info.
