Yup just saw this too. About time something is done about this issue.
Remedy is a PIM and IPC software update for 2017-2018 model year
vehicles and a PIM software update for 2019-2023 model year vehicles
providing messaging to the customer and sufficient drive time to exit
traffic.
?????Note that they are NOT planning to fix the actual problem.
?????Why should the actual part need to be replaced when software parameters would be the root cause of the failure?
As I read this, the problem will still occur...it's just that you'll have minute or two to get out of traffic before they shut everything down.providing messaging to the customer and sufficient drive time to exit
traffic.

They claim this issue doesn't exist for brand new cars, so I'd assume if you hit it, and have your transmission replaced, it'll actually solve the issue moving forward. Still shitty, but better than what was happening before. The suspect period began on August 12, 2016, when production of the Chrysler Pacifica began, and ended on January 9, 2023, when FCA US LLC ("FCA US") began containing suspect vehicles under plant control. The suspect period was determined using field data and engineering change records.
Similar vehicles not included in this recall are not PHEVs or were built after the suspect period.
Sounds like it's internal to the transaxle, so I would think an extended warranty on it might be the best you could hope for.So the software update is just to give you enough time to pull over. Question is if you encounter this issue outside of warranty, will the replacement of the burned component be covered, Or if another recall will come out later to fix the issue and avoid the connector to be burned.
What happens to the ones that were sold in Canada during this time frame? Just for kicks I went on the USA Chrysler notification of the recall and found that my serial number is one of those in the recall. Nothing from Chrysler Canada as yet. Confused and what to make of this for those north of the border. I thought that the 2022 crop would be free of problems like. If I would have been aware of this I would have hung on to my 2018 ice model. It makes sense to first put out the software update first. Hopefully the fix is not far out.
I logged into my Canadian MOPAR account and it shows the recall for my 2021 PacHy already. You will be hearing more soon. What happens to the ones that were sold in Canada during this time frame? Brand new ‘22 pacifica hybrid. Bought it 4 months ago. 5k miles. It’s been at the dealership for 2 weeks because of this problem. Now it needs a brand new transmission. But didn’t my car have a brand new transmission when it was built 4 months ago? Now I’m hoping for a buyback. They claim this issue doesn't exist for brand new cars, so I'd assume if you hit it, and have your transmission replaced, it'll actually solve the issue moving forward. Note that I have not heard anything from Chrysler US yet. According to the recall docs, they are planning to start notifying owners and dealers on March 8.Nothing from Chrysler Canada as yet
