My car has been identified as part of the 03A recall since January. This is the recall for an issue where the car might lose power suddeny when driving. Mopar apparently has no ETA for fixing it as their recall website is non-functional and the NHSTA page says parts are unavailable.

I agree that every car manufacturer will have recalls at some point, but I am frustrated with the way Chrysler is handling it with no clarity and no plan.

For those of you who are impacted, how are you handling it? Are you still using it as a daily driver? Any known precautions to take?

On a related note, is there a collective legal action organized for Chrysler's unresponsiveness?

I am still using my 2021 PacHy as a daily driver. I have experienced the loss of motive power multiple times - but only at highway speeds. Thankfully, most of my driving is local and I have not had any issues at 50 mph or under.

I will continue to wait for the recall. I thought there was going to be a temporary software workaround but, in the letter, I just received today, it seemed like it was only a notification. (My understanding was that the software workaround would alert you to the short but not shut down power immediately. This would allow you to stop and restart the vehicle in a more controlled fashion).

Yes, this is extremely frustrating. I am not aware of any class-action lawsuit against Chrysler yet for this issue but would certainly be interested in it given how serious this issue is and how close I've come to danger when this failed on me multiple times at high speeds on busy interstates!

Thank you!

couple month ago I had a similar message pop up, but think it said “charging system fault” and I couldn’t start the car. I typically press the break pedal then start button and it wasn’t starting after many attempts then I tried not pressing the break pedal and going to ACC then Run and it started

Hello,

Thank you for grabbing our attention on this. Safety recall 03A has recently been released for 2022 and 2023 model year Chrysler Pacifica Hybrids to address potential power loss concerns. Please know that a fix is also coming for the rest of the year models soon. Again, we appreciate your continued patience. Should you have any further questions, please send us a PM. Thank you!

I received the recall letter yesterday. In a nutshell it said my vehicle's motive power may cease without warning, potentially causing a crash and there is no fix now for this issue.

This is an ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS response to an extremely serious, perhaps deadly, situation. It has dissipated ALL of the good will I felt toward the product and convinced me to NEVER buy another Chrysler product.

I understand why many folks are upset about the inconvenience and uncertainty of this recall but as someone who has owned or leased lots of newer cars in the last 10 years and manages a fleet of 75 vehicles for work I can assure you all manufactures have recalls, many of those recalls are for rare but serious conditions that could cause a crash or fire and in almost all cases the fix is not immediately available and often requires having the vehicle at the dealership for extended periods. Similar to this recall the issue only affects a small number of owners but for those few can be a very big deal. There is a fair amount of confusion on this recall regarding the fix but I can say I scheduled an appointment with my dealer (I have a 2022) and they told me there was no fix as they had no parts - I then reached out to Chrysler cares and they contacted the dealer, set me up with a case manager and assured me the software update is the fix and not just a temp solution. Hopefully that all stays true and they move on to the other model years soon. Long story short I get why you might be mad at Chrysler but going to a different brand moving forward is unlikely to protect you from a similar experience!

This happened to my car back in July 2022 with 17k miles on it. It was super scary driving at 70MPH in Tennessee and it completely powered off with no warning. Thankfully I was able to get over (no power steering even!). My children, dog and husband were all in the car packed up for a lake trip. We could have easily been hit. Chrysler didn't even give me a rental car for the 3 weeks it was in the shop. Then, they finally put a new transmission in my new car. When I asked them what would keep this from happening again, since the original transmission was basically new as well. They wouldn't come up with an answer. I just received a new notice of the recall and reached out to corporate, and again they don't want to offer up a rental. Someone could die from this. This is ethically just so wrong for Chrysler. I've also reported it to NHTSA, and suggest others that have experienced it, report as well.

can you describe what happens during power loss? Does the car stop quickly or like it goes into neutral? And then you can start as normal or take some specific steps?
Would really help to prepare. Thanks!
While driving it completely 100% powers off, no power steering, no warning. I was going 70mph and it just stopped working. Luckily, I was able to get over on the interstate and didn't get hit.

This is different. The problem you've experienced has happened to me as well. It used to happen a lot (not b/c I wasn't pressing the brake, I was!). I took it to the dealership multiple times and they were perplexed. Finally, this seemed to resolve after an update I had completed in Nov of 2021. The issue in the recall is a complete power outage while driving.

I just got my letter in the mail yesterday for my 2021 Hybrid. I am so frustrated that they’ve waited two months to send out the letters since announcing the problem - and the letters are essentially worthless. “Your car could power off suddenly while driving and there’s current no solution for it.” This is totally unacceptable and I’m super disappointed in Chrysler for it.
I regret buying this vehicle and have very little faith in the longevity or safety of it. I’m honestly shocked this is legal - if Chrysler cannot come up with a solution in a timely manner then they should have to buy back the vehicles or something. I really hope no one dies as a result of their negligence.
I already went through being without a vehicle for half the month of December because the last recall seems to actually cause my battery coolant heater to die. Between all the recalls and the never ending quirks and problems with the electronics/software I am really over it.

So it is not even an actual fix, just a system alert if it arises?! Please tell me this is not a long term fix. That is entirely unacceptable (and again seems like it should be illegal).

I completely agree. This is unethical at best. Should be unlawful as well. I called Chrysler Customer Care and they're not offering rentals nor buy backs. So, do they just want us to garage our $50k vehicles and take the loss, or drive them and risk killing our families?

It certainly makes me think twice about going anywhere where I have to drive at highway speeds. Especially with my kids in the vehicle. It’s absolutely unethical - have they somehow managed to hide this from the NHTSA?

Please report your issue to NHTSA. Strength in numbers will get us a real resolution.

This. Let's make sure we report it to NHSTA and call them as well.

It is such a lovely vehicle and I have enjoyed every moment of owning it so far but the risk here seems too high for Chrysler to just ignore.
