To the best of my knowledge (I have NOT read the Owners Manual cover-to-cover) there is not a way to customize how the system pre-conditions the vehicle upon remote start. From what I understand, it basically reads the outside temperature, and if it is above or below the preset thresholds, the predetermined settings are engaged. It will cool or heat the interior based on those presets... and I do not know of how they can be altered.

Similarly, I do not understand why they could not (have not) enabled deeper functionality of the Uconnect Remote App for your mobile phone. It seems EXTREMELY limited to only offer lock/unlock and remote start/stop from the app when you SHOULD be able to see/control other functions once it receives the confirmation it is running.

It would be nice to set the climate controls to what YOU want via the app... turn on/off seat heaters, vented seats, heated steering wheel, open/close sunroof or sunshade for panoramic glass... set rear defroster on, etc. - or even better: SAVABLE PRESETS for the user.

If Uconnect offered THAT level of control, I would GLADLY continue my subscription after the free one-year trial... but to basically JUST get to remote-start my car when I cannot see it...? NAH... not worth the $$$ at all.

(in addition)

Don't get me wrong... I LOVE that this is at-least a forward progression. Up until this car, any vehicle I would remote-start would just "wake-up" as it was when it was last driven... so if I had already turned-OFF my heat because I was warm-enough when I got home, but now remote-start at 5:30 am when it's 12-degrees out... and the car is NOT warming-up for me while I get ready for work, THAT is irritating...

... or if I left my wipers running because of the flurries that started as I was getting home, but overnight the car got buried in 10" of snow/ice... with THIS Pacifica, the wipers will NOT try to start working until I enter the vehicle and press the start-button... giving me time to first turn-OFF the wipers. The alternative being (like most cars) the wiper motors potentially "burning out" trying to move or un-stick frozen wipers or wipers buried in thick, wet snow.

At least with THIS iteration of the Pacifica's climate control, it is taking the basic steps of reading the current environment and overriding whatever it was left at previously (for better or for worse) and making a broad judgement call to heat/cool the vehicle for your convenience.

To me, that's a big step in the right direction.

I was assuming that the climate controls would be working at whatever setting they were last left at before using the remote start. When we left the blower at a low setting, that's what it was when we did a remote start. If it was set to high, the same. Right now, our A/C is always on, low temps in the high 80's, highs in the 110 range so I don't know about the remote start function making decisions about heat or cool...

Remote Start Comfort Systems — If Equipped
When Remote Start is activated, the Climate Control,
vented seats (if equipped) are also activated in temperatures
above 80° F (26.7° C), and the optional heated seats,
and optional heated steering wheel in temperatures below
40° F (4.4° C). These features will stay on through the
duration of Remote Start or until the ignition switch is
cycled to the ON/RUN position.
NOTE: The Remote Start Comfort System can be activated
and deactivated through the Uconnect Settings. For more
information on Remote Start Comfort System operation,
refer to “Uconnect Settings” in “Multimedia.”

What I don't understand from the above is: if you disable this function in Uconnect, does it leave the AC/Heat off completely when you remote start or does it just run AC/Heat in the same mode you last had it set to when you shut down the car.

Good to see someone else having the same discussion I want to read about even if it is from 4 years ago. I see many references to having the van continue doing what what it was doing when you turned it off. What's the answer as to why it will not resume when you remote start? The point above about it being 80 degrees F and more outside i can confirm that mine does not kick on the air conditioner even at that temperature is well about that level.
