Well this is my remote start install. I've not been able to complete it yet as the dealer has to program and install the WIN module and antenna. I will take it up and get a cost to see what the difference between me doing the panel removal and them doing it and post.

I opened the box for the remote start and there are two styles of remote start and one has 5 button remote and the other has the 6 button remote. I picked the 6 button remote as I like even numbers even though none of the door buttons will work in my particular application. I’m posting the instructions as well even though I didn’t follow them exactly for reference.

So first I removed the plastic cover over the top of the hood latch by removing the 13? Plastic push pins and set it aside, then I removed the air intake horn (no tools), upper air box and lower air box. The upper air box requires loosening the hose clamp and removing two screws while unclipping the quick connect hose while the lower airbox is held in by one 10mm bolt on the back and pull up on the rubber grommets on the trans. Set all this aside for now.

Remove the 4 10mm bolts holding the hood latch on the radiator support making sure to mark with a sharpie where the bracket it so bolting the new one on will be easier on the alignment. Take a pair of pliers and squeeze the tabs on the hood release cable to remove from the old bracket and install on the new bracket. Also before you bolt it in plug the wire into the plug now as it’s hard to do once installed. Now install the 4 10mm bolts in the new bracket.

Run the wire along the hood release cable adding zip ties every so often and once your around the back of the fuse box run the terminal ring under the harness and attach to the ground bracket and then unplug the main harness from the ECM so you can reach back and clip the rubber tip from the firewall penetration so you can run the purple wire in the interior. This would be a good time to route any other wires you want through the firewall before you add any sealant. Once you have this routed you can plug the main harness back in and start reinstalling the air box and shrouds as your done on the outside.

Now lets go to the interior..

Remove the side panel by pulling straight out and setting it aside. Remove the lower two panels with 4 push pins and remove that little access to remove the orange strap, pull straight out and unplug the light module, remove the hood release and OBD2 plug so you can set it aside.

Now what I did was remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the BCM on the kick panel and lowered it to better access the top left plug you have to remove. Remove this plug and you will see a green wire in pin 11. Remove the outer cover of the harness plug and use a small screwdriver to push the green wire out of the harness and install the purple wire you pushed into the interior from the hood switch. You will want to route this cable properly before you plug it into the plug as you won’t be able to after. Zip tie the cable and put the cover on the plug, reinstall into the BCM and put the BCM back in place. Reinstall the panels and your done with the front of the van.

The next part requires removing a lot of panels in the rear of the van to lower the headliner to be able to access the WIN module and antenna area. This part you won’t be able to accomplish on your own unless you want to tow your van to the dealer because your keys will no longer work. So you do one of three things here.

One you finish as per the instructions and tow your van to the dealer and they program everything

Two you remove the panels to access the area, take the van to the dealer and let them install the last two modules, program and give it back to you to finish the panel installation

Three let the dealer finish it from here with removal of the panels, and install/programming of the modules, this is the route I’ll probably go this weekend.

So not to bad and I’ll post the instructions below as well as give the price for finishing the install.

excellent work, Razorback. Alluding to the other thread about the fuse box, i now see what you're saying when the BCM is the only module within the instrument panel on the drivers side. I'm curious if the passenger side is symmetrical and holds the fuse panel on that side, but i'll have to wait till the weekend to start tearing into it again.

When this is all said and done, looks like you'll have the exact van you want with all the options ala cart. Kind of what i thought i would be able to do when i ordered mine through military sales, but i just don't have the access to garage space and tools like i do back in the states to do this type of work. kudos for tearing into it and sharing the pics!

I've removed the passenger side panels as well and there isn't one over there either. Such a weird thing.

I used the military car sales to buy a Harley last time I deployed, I liked the deal I got but wish they discounted more.

I have yet to tackle the time consuming part of removing all those rear panels to drop the headliner and access those rear modules. Such a weird place to put key fob modules. The remote start on my Ram had the antenna in the dash. I'm torn right now on letting a tech do the panels in the back as I worry about them getting dirty finger prints on the headliner. It's sooo easy to do if you don't keep your hands clean.

Not sure. I don't have Uconnect in my van. I have it in my truck but I haven't registered it yet.
I'm sure one of the limited guys will chime in and let you know.

It does seem odd to put them at the rear of the van, but a lot of things on this van aren't making a lot of sense to me either.

I was satisfied with the deal we got through Military Sales for this particular van, even though i think i could have gotten a bit better deal had i got it stateside. However, to get the exact van with the options we wanted, this was probably the best choice. I think MAS is really the best choice for convenience, vice price.

Unfortunately, I don't think the Limited guys will know either since our vehicles all came with remote start from the factory. If I had to guess, I would think that you wouldn't get Uconnect Access if you install remote start post-purchase, but I haven't heard of anyone who has the 8.4 Uconnect system AND installed remote start after purchase.

Once I get that cable I'll give it a shot.

It would make things easier for sure.

General, can I send you the PDF version of the install manual so I can take down the pics? Maybe make an archive with links on the site as people buy the factory pieces so everyone can see install instructions?

These instructions came on a CD and I was lucky I still had a computer that had one. I haven't used a CD in at least 4 years. So would have been nice to jump on here and check the instructions.

I'll email them to anyone that needs them. Just PM me

Hi everyone, I am from Canada. I am buying my first pacifica ever. So I don’t know much about it. I have few questions. It’s touring with few extra options. I wanted security package but dealer don’t have factory installed so dealer told me he will charge me for package and install the original Chrysler remote start in his garage.

So he should give me 4 keys, 2 original and 2 with remort start? Right? Would installing remote start also add anti theft like it comes with factory security package? Should I ask for 6 button or 7 button remote start keys, what would be best?
