I think we should have a dedicated thread to this issue and keep it in Chrysler's radar.

I think it's a major downside to a remarkable vehicle. We're in MN and I was looking forward to being able to remote start while plugged in.
How do we get enough feedback to Chrysler to get them to work on a software update so that engine does not start while plugged in? Or at least tell us it isn't feasible due to the drivetrain design.

It happened today when it was 65 degrees in the garage with a full battery. I plugged back in to remote start and the engine fired immediately and ran for about 2 minutes before shutting off.

Pre cooling

I also would love this feature, as we live in Florida so we do not have an artificially heated garage, but in the summer it would be great to have it be plugged in and pre cool the interior before any trips.

Hi folks,

There is another thread where this was mentioned, and I let the posters on that thread know that I had forwarded the request to the brand for consideration (I think last week or the week before). Just wanted to let you know we were already aware of it.

I've been pre-cooling ours the past couple days with the standard 110V charger. The dash charge display shows it bouncing back and forth between 99% and 100%. The A/C is definitely on (seats too). It's been in the 80s here, so the interior isn't super hot. The light by the window shows it is charging (last status light blinking).

Then i don't understand why they don't come forward and just say, don't use it in the garages. Especially since it is consistent with other EVs use. At least it'd be clear where concern lies (not while normal driving, at least) and how to avoid it.

This hush-hush culture really gets on my nerves already. this is a public safety issue.

So, am I the only one who's getting it to pre-cool on 110V without the engine starting or the battery depleting? I haven't tried remote start with a low battery, but I've done it numerous times and never had the engine come on...

Just found this, which may explain why for some people...

All of the following conditions must be met before the vehicle will remote start:
• Gear Selector in PARK
• Doors closed
• Hood closed
• Liftgate closed
• Hazard switch off
• Brake switch inactive (brake pedal not pushed)
• Battery at an acceptable charge level
• Key fob PANIC button not pushed
• System not disabled from previous remote start event
• Vehicle alarm system indicator flashing
• Ignition in STOP/OFF position
• Fuel level meets minimum requirement <- I wonder what that level is? > 1/4 ?
• MIL lamp is OFF, Vehicle is in propulsion system active

and

When Remote Start is activated, the Climate Control,
vented seats (if equipped) are also activated in temperatures
above 80° F (26.7° C), and the optional heated seats,
and optional heated steering wheel in temperatures below
40° F (4.4° C). These features will stay on through the
duration of Remote Start or until the ignition switch is
cycled to the ON/RUN position.

Found this out too by mistake. My sons loaded into the van, I had some things to load into the other car, and wife was prepping the baby for transport. I hit remote start to start the van cooling with the boys inside while we finished last minute preparations. It was still plugged in of course. I was just outside the garage when the horn/alarm went nuts, and I though maybe the panic button was pushed in my pocket. The fob would NOT turn off the alarm. Went to the door and opened it to two very surprised boys! Apparently they tried to exit the sliding door to go get something. Lesson learned.
