Has anyone found a solution for putting a roof rack ( for canoes/kayaks) on bare roof of the LX ? Yakima and Thule say they can't make a clip to fit in the back door to hold towers on roof ... I won't drill thru roof to install an aftermarket rack. So far it doesn't look promising , and paying $6k more for a touring L just to get its rack is nuts !! Could use foam blocks on roof but we do highway driving and it's iffy.

There is a roof rack on the Mopar site: Chrysler Pacifica Roof Rack (Part No: 82214552) It is under $400. There is an instruction page you can click on which seems to indicate that the holes are already in the van roof, so it doesn't look like you would have to drill into the roof. So you can decide if you think that would work for you.

It looks like the new Touring Plus might have a roof rack if the photos are accurate. Otherwise, you might try reading all the buying advice on the forum to get the price down on a van with a roof rack. Just try to get a manufacture date of 9/2016 or later if the better safety rating matters to you.

I got a Touring L because I wanted the roof rack but would have bought a cheaper model if it had a roof rack when I bought my van. I don't think the roof rack part was available then.

Good luck. Let us know what you think and if you install it.

The only thing about this is it only comes in black... I am still hoping for a chrome color like the touring L, limited, etc since our Pacifica's body already is black.

My Touring L has a black roof rack. I think the Touring L Plus and above trims may have chrome on the side rails.

Maybe a dealer or body shop can order chrome rails or inserts from the factory if you can't find them elsewhere.

It was an easy install, remove the existing covers, then bolt down the existing racks with the (12) bolts provided. Of course used the opportunity to teach my 16y/o how to torque a bolt and that didnt' go well. Good news is used my cargo box for a 500 mile trip with camping gear and all went well.

if you do bolt it up keep in mind the torque process for the bolt, require x6 loosening and retorquing process.

whats that mean? you have to torque and loosen 6 times for each nut?? i wonder why? i wonder if you can put some locktite on each before the last torque? might be a little bit of last resort insurance...

I want to remove rack so I can install larger and heavier rack, any tricks to remove existing factory rack?
If you look at the 2nd post of this thread, there a part number you can click on. On that sheet is a place you can click on for an instruction sheet for installation. Maybe you could just reverse the process to remove the rack.

roof rack installs easily

I recently bought a 2017 Pacifica LX and bought the OEM roof rack mentioned above. Installation was easy for the most part. One bit of advice I'd like to add:
Removing the plastic clips from under the roof covers was a bit tricky at first, but then I found that inserting a screwdriver and twisting would snap the clips right off. The first clip I tried to pry from underneath and was way more difficult and prone to scratching.
I was considering getting a Touring simply for the roof rack, but I'm glad I went with an LX and installed a roof rack myself. I didn't have to pay for features I don't want.

Sorry about the delay. The studs are painted so the torque and release process is to remove the paint
