Not sure if this is common with other people's Pacificas but ours seems to have a rough idle. It's not dramatic but it slightly shakes the van. Doesn't seem normal, especially for a modern vehicle. The 3.5 V6 in our last 2010 Toyota ran like a sewing machine. Didn't feel vehicle vibration at idle.

Also, on acceleration, low, moderate and high, there is a slight recurring hesitation on what seems like 3rd gear. I don't have a way to verify what gear it is in at that time but it always seems to be that same gear when I count the shifts. The engine seems to rev a bit higher on this gear than others under normal acceleration so it may be the engine, not the transmission. Almost feels like slipping or misfiring. I'm sure I'd have a Check Engine Light if it were misfires though.

Anyone else experience either such issues?

Hi mtmgtz,

Has your dealership addressed any of this at all for you?

How rough is it?
I notice on my car occasionally a little uneven vibration when waiting to get gas or at a light for a long time. It is not very strong though.
There's a small delay sometimes when acceleration from very low speeds but I think that's due to the 9 speed transmission using dog gears in addition to planetary gears.

Unfortunately it must be normal because mine is doing it too. It feels lumpy at idle and in Park. I also feel a forward motion jerky feeling at lower speeds 20 to 30 mph. :|

Same here. Idle is the roughest of any new car I've owned. Since the Pentastar isn't new I just figured it's a characteristic of the motor. I get a hesitation in acceleration but only from a stop. Push the pedal...more...more...VROOOM here we go! Also the loudest new car I've ever owned. My '09 Journey was so quiet I had to look at the Tach to see if it was on. I could barely tell it was running if I was standing by the hood of the car. Anybody else get an electrical hum when you unlock the car? When the side mirror lights/headlamps/tail lamps come on. I've hear it with other LED lamps so I chalked it up to being normal.

Yes I feel forward motion is jerky at lower speeds also. The hesitation in acceleration from stop. Its the one thing I don't like about the van. I'm pretty sensitive to motion sickness so when my husband drives I want to throw up:( My van is in shop for different problems and I've driven my husbands caddie and it's just so smooth compared to minivan.

Vibrate

Yes, I have the same first impression. When stoped at the light the steer vibrate a little which I thought was odd for brand new car. But not as bad as visibly shaking.

How rough is it?

I don't have the van yet but, does the active noise cancelation help the engine sound ant least from within the cabin?

I'm surprised so many people are experiencing a rough idle. I'm delighted with how smooth and quiet my Pacifica is at idle.

I do have ESS and maybe this is a recent side effect of the ESS addition. Not sure about the the others however. My Unit was built Jan 30 of 17.
I wonder if anyone else that has this issue has ESS as well. When problems come up we need to start to noting the build date, last several of vin, model level of vehicle to see if we can create some sort of correlation to these issue to certain build times or build models etc. I know they all share he same engine so this may very well be a mute point.

Mine certainly does not have ESS. It is a September 2016 build. The rough idle seemed worse today. I'm going to have to schedule a service appointment soon. I still have the slipping or hesitation feeling at around 2500 to 3000 RPM. It also seems to correlate to 3rd gear maybe. I can't pinpoint it 100 percent but it stops at above 3000 RPM and don't really notice it in other gears. The transmission seems to hang onto 3rd gear into that RPM range more often than other gears during normal acceleration so it may be the engine rather than the transmission. Maybe something to do with variable valve timing being off.

Have any of you had your van looked at yet? I haven't had a chance but I'm going to call today to schedule an appointment.

Do you have any update on your issue. Did service found anything?
I am having similar vibrations at idle, which is pretty annoying, especially for brand new van (500 miles). I feel it mostly on the van's floor, but yesterday at traffic light it felt much more rough, that first I thought wind blew suddenly hard. I love the van, but that idle "shivering" is so disappointing for me, that ruins overall driving experience.
I compared idle vibration to friend's Jeep Wrangler (2013) also with 3.6 pentastar and it is much smoother at idle.

Does anyone with this issue had it solved?
