Excellent point it should not operate while in gear just as the sliding doors do. Chrysler should most definitely address this as it is a safety concern. I'm surprised that this slipped by the engineers.

There is a built in safety feature where if the button is pressed but the seat movement encounters any resistance it will reverse. Simply planting your left foot or pressing back on the steering wheel should have stopped the process. I agree that the feature should have been disabled when the vehicle is in gear though.

I have tried this in my Pacifica, and it chimed at me and the dash said that the sliding door has to be open for this function to work. I feel that that is a programming issue with your van.
This has been discussed in previous threads so I know other owners have encountered the behavior described by the OP. What is the build date on your Pacifica? Maybe this is a change in newer units?

This button should not work when the car is in gear!

Had to run to the store this afternoon and purposely checked my vehicle to see if the seat moved after depressing the the button while in gear. Thankfully it did not.:grin2:

While I was driving, my 8 year old grand daughter pushed the driver's side stow and go button. My driver's side seat moved forward and pushed me against the steering wheel. Very dangerous! This button should not work when the car is in gear!
While installing my floor liners I needed to move the front seats forward. Opened driver's side sliding door, pushed driver's seat button, no problem. I then crawled across to push the button for passenger's seat and discovered that the button didn't work unless the sliding door was open on that side. So there is a safety feature built in. leonramseur you need to get your's fixed!

Same here. In fact, I have closed the sliding door and forgot to put the seats back. I tried to do it with the doors closed by reaching around from the drivers seat, and it did not work. Once the sliding door was opened for the side that I wanted, the front row seat moved back.

Just curious, can your 8 year old grand daughter reach that button when she is buckled in her seat properly?

Sometimes I wish there was an unlike button. The internet is full of this passive-aggressive BS, why do you feel the need to post it here?

The button shouldn't move the seat when the vehicle is in motion, period.

Wow. (!) I also have grandchildren that ride in my van. I was simply asking if it was possible to reach that button from the seat. No need to call my question BS. Obviously, I would agree that the button shouldn't move the seat when the vehicle is in motion.

Likely scenario: 8-year old properly buckled trying to reach for a toy using their foot. Instead of making it come closer, the object of interest get kicked toward the front pillar. Maybe a corner of that object depressed the button for a long time.
Has anybody tried to push and hold the button for say 30seconds?

Hi leonramseur,

We'd recommend visiting your local dealership for further diagnosis of your concern, please let me know if you would like assistance setting up an appointment!

Why wouldn't the button be tied to the same laws as the sliding door?
