Went to start my Pacifica and the engine started, but the vehicle would NOT go into gear. Gear shift knob was "locked/stuck" call it whatever, but I was stranded while on vacation.
Car is now at the dealership after being towed in as the neutral over ride worked, so the vehicle could be lifted onto the tow truck. I will report back once more diagnosis by the dealer occurs.
Personally, an idiot light message telling me "service shifter" is absurd, when the car will not go into gear. I kind of figured out that the transmission shifter was not working.

What year and trim level is your Pacifica?

Have you had any battery issues lately?

Does your ESS system work, or do you have the "not available" warning?

You can find warranty info on the Mopar website if it didn't come with your van.

It really helps us help you if you put your van info in the signature line of account settings.

Sometimes unusual messages result from a low or dead battery. If the van systems don't have enough energy, they seem to shut down. Batteries can die unexpectedly without a battery icon showing up.

The vehicle only has 45,248miles and less than 5 years old. (Still under a drive train warranty) The 2017 models have an established pattern/history of transmission failures at speeds anywhere from 20-40 mph.
  1. The dealer replaced the control module of the transmission. ($409) part; ($267) labor; tax ($30+)=$706 repair bill.
  2. This model of 2017 Pacifica has had many issues/failures to the transmission, which have ads for lawyers regarding lemon laws. But.... The wife has had bought and used Chrysler/Mopar mini vans for the past 33 years. We even purchased a new Dodge Journey in 2018. This purchase (Journey) came while the camshaft and sensor on this specific Pacifica was being analyzed and replacing parts and sensors replaced. (Mopar honored the warranty for all parts, labor and car rentals at C&C Dodge in Marietta OH, while they corrected the manufacturing issues.) Once again a transmission "failure" occurred, while I was away from home. (this time) The Pacifica "locked up/froze" as I visited Valley Forge PA. AAA arranged a tow to Videon Dodge on West Chester Pike in Newtown Square PA. The professional and courteous service by Brian Iovino was the absolute best I have had in any dealership. (Local or traveling) Brian reassured me the part was available and to get the Pacifica back in operational order would be a priority the next day. Videon service department contacted me by 10am the next morning, that the Pacifica was ready to go. Happy and ready to travel home.
  3. However, this Pacifica has had more mechanical issues than all of the mini van vehicles we have owned in the past 33 years. As a loyal customer and currently having faith the 2018 Journey (bought in June 2019 at C&C Dodge in Marietta OH) will perform as designed, we would like to negotiate some compensation in regards to the $706 bill. This vehicle has a history of transmission issues. Thank God mine happened while parked and the van just refused to go anywhere. My wife would have been "unnervered" if she experienced the documented incidents while the Pacifica was in traffic.
  4. Please have Chrysler reimbursement officials contact us directly. You have my data/info in the Chrysler "cloud". I need to know how to submit the claims/receipt for this repair bill.
  5. Again I cannot express how thankful I am to the professional care and sincerity of Brian Iovino at the Videon dealership and the empathy when handling the repairs.

Thank you for the #to contact a claims agent. My wife will be contacting a Chrysler representative next week about her Pacifica.
What are the hours for the number you sent? Is this a call center in Eastern Time Zone? TY
