About a month ago my drivers side sliding door whhen closing would suddenly reverse usually on second closing it would work. Also it was very sporatic and would not do it every time. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. Go in for oil change thursday and they are going to check it out.

Hi dolee7,

Sorry to hear about this! This isn't a concern I've assisted customers with before but please let me know how your dealership appointment goes. I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed.

Have had this happen a few times. Sometimes it would reverse on opening, sometimes on closing. I've had it where it reversed and kind of lets loose (literally with no resistance), stopping a few inches from fully closed and I was able to manually open or close it. I've not been concerned enough to take it in since most intermittent problems never seem to show up when it gets back to the dealer.

Mine only reverses and closes if I start the ignition just before it closes.

I dont know if I have solved the problem but what I did was shut it off on the top panel and manually open and close the door then turn the power on so far its worked all week but dont know if it will keep up.Was reading on the internet that sometimes electronics will get confused and you have to reprogram the length of close the door makes dont know but so far so good. Thanks for the replys at least I know i am not alone.

If I hit the ignition when the doors are closing the drivers side reverse for a second then pauses and closes. The passenger side stops until the engine is started then closes.

I have had this similar issue since i bought my van, except it is on the passenger side. It has happened about 40-50 times. I thought maybe it had something to do with the hands free option, but I disabled that function in settings and it still has the occasional issue. I took it in today for its first oil change and had them look at it. It had the issue while I showed it to the guy writing the ticket, but then it wouldn't do it for the service tech. I will try the power slide disable trick, but curious as to why the dealership didn't mention there was an update that involved the sliding door. The only option they gave me was to bring it in again once it happens again.

Maybe you could ask the service manager if ther was a update. Also maybe mine was a early build that didnt have the update and yours was a later build that already had it applied. Mine was purchased in june of 2016. Mine did work fine for about 8 months before it started acting up.

My 2017 Pacifica Limited is doing the same thing. Have taken it to two different dealerships and they lubricate it and it works for about 10 minutes then the problem returns. Third time's a charm, right?

Hi aleza3,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to revisit a certified dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.

Aleza3, mine is doing this randomly as well. Any luck at your dealer? I had mine in a few weeks ago and they lubricated the slider door track to fix he grinding noise I was having, but still have the issue where it randomly will re-open right before it latches closed.

My driver side sliding door has this same symptom. I intend to have the dealer look at it when I take it in for an oil change. The alignment of the door itself doesn’t look very straight when it’s closed. The passenger door never does this, and it is aligned perfectly with the rest of the panels when closed.

If they find anything, please keep us posted. Like you, I feel like on mine the passenger slider is not as aligned as the driver side. The gap between the rear quarter panel and the slider when its closed seems slightly larger and not as flush as the driver side.

Yeah I wish I could figure out how to better align the rear side of the sliding door. The front is fairly straight forward as you can adjust by loosening the two bolts at the top slider arm. The rear doesn’t have any adjustments that I can see. My door alignment is good, but I’m a perfectionist and wouldn’t mind the rear of the passenger side sliding door in just slightly.

Mine is currently at the dealer for a few issues and this is one of them. The service tech had it happen to him today and has the door apart and still can’t find any issues. We opened a star report back in September for this issue as well but we still can’t pin point the root cause. For me, driver side only and happens always when trying to latch. I am sure with the power of these forums, we can hopefully find a working resolution.

Just wanted to circle back around on this thread. We had our 2017 in the shop this week deal with the grinding rear passenger slider door as well as the random door reverse when closing issue. The dealer ended up replacing the roller on the door which seems to has helped the grinding noise, but just today, the door reversing itself right before latching closed still is happening. My wife said it happened four times in a row this morning. Before I take it back to the dealer again, just curious if anyone has had this resolved and what the fix was so I can reference. Attached is the video of what it does (before the grinding noise was fixed) in case my explanation doesn't make sense.
