I seem to recall reading in all the info that there was a mention that you were not supposed to attempt to store a deflated spare tire. Does this imply that they are a one-time usage type thing? Is it that it will not flatten out enough or you would need a vacuum pump to reduce the diameter?

If so, this is an expensive one-time tire. Cheaper to have the tow truck bring a new tire.
I guess I am still a little unsure of buying the spare tire kit.

Also, the video etc of the flat fix with goo also seems to suggest this might be a one time usage.
There is no mention of getting a replacement cartridge for follow-on usage.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

I haven't seen anything that says the spare can only be used once. The inflator that comes with the Pacifica also has a deflate settings, so getting the air out of it shouldn't be an issue. The flat fix goo that comes with the inflator is supposed to be used on a regular tire if you don't have a spare, not the spare tire.

I know the goo is for the no-spare option, but once you use it, the inflator that is part of the kit with the goo built into it is no longer usable unless you can get another goo bag and filler tube to afix to the inflator gizmo.
I think the deflation button is only to let air out of the tire that is over-inflated. I doubt that it will suck out ambient air to collapse tire to original size around the rim. From the video it appears the inflatable tire is sucked down pretty flat before an initial inflation.

The inflatable spare has special sidewalls that fold in to make it smaller. It doesn't need suction to fold this way; all the air just needs to be let out of it.

Mopar part numbers for the compact inflatable spare:
Compact spare kit, 82214534AB which includes everything you need, except the cover panel
Cover (Alloy color), 5RK06PD2AC
$394.38 from the Dealer, with 10% discount coupon and tax
Comes with instructions, simple install, takes about 20-30 minutes

The inflator kit that came with my Touring-L Plus fits right into the styrofoam center filler piece, which also stores the lug wrench and gas filler funnel.

So - do we have any forum members brave enough to inflate their spare, then deflate it and see if it fits back in okay?

I did test my spare & inflator, but only took it to approx 50% expansion to full size. Was concerned about the same issue that you are asking about, so chickened out.:wink2:

This could be a good question to see if the folks in here from Chrysler can get a definitive answer on for us. Was the spare designed to be reused/restowed in the vehicle? I would imagine the answer is yes but a solid answer would be great.

Do any of you know if this is the same as what I'd get if I selected the "Inflatable Tire Kit" in place of the vacuum on a Limited? Including the compressor?
Thanks
Yes, it's the same tire kit. The inflator actually comes with the vehicle, not the kit. You'll get the inflator regardless of whether you get the spare or not.
