I seem to get the Start/Stop System Unavailable message quite a lot. I took it to the dealer and they charged the battery but two days later the same thing started happening. Does anybody know if this is normal? I don't normally drive long distances - maybe that's the problem? It seems to take about a week for the message to go away and for the system to work properly again. Any advice would be welcome!

I have the same issue - especially in the winter it seems to never be charged even after 6 hours on the highway

I have had this message show up 4 times in the past month, just after having a recall completed. Just took it in today and the system does not log the error so I got the normal "No Repair/Trouble not found" from the dealer. This is annoying on a $38K vehicle with only 34K miles that I bought 1 year ago. How do I get this resolved???

Have you had this recall performed?:

Even though your dealer charged and tested your batteries, my best guess is there still could be a problem with the batteries, either they are not getting properly charged or one or both are failing. I wonder when they stated "tested batteries" was it a load test before they charged them?

Yes, and it never started doing this until after that recall was done by the dealer (maybe just a coincidence). Light came back on today (after having it at the dealer yesterday), so it is going back in tomorrow.

So you had the recall performed and it was shortly after that you received the Start/Stop error......You are not the only one (see post #37 of the following):

After having the V53 recall done a couple months ago, I had the ESS fail at the end of a long road trip last month. After reading all the posts here, I took the initiative and replaced the auxiliary battery, which I picked up at my local dealer and was manufactured in June. Two weeks later the ESS failed, so I replaced the main battery. Since last week when I did this, the system has been working normally. I do want to wait a bit longer before pronouncing the problem solved, but I am optimistic.

Interesting related note, when I went to the dealer to pick up the main battery, they were out of stock. The parts manager suggested I go to Interstate for a replacement, since FCA is changing battery suppliers, he didn't know when they were getting batteries in, and that Interstate was the supplier before. He wasn't sure who they were changing to, but I noticed that the battery I took out of our van was marked is Made in the USA, while the Interstate replacement was Made in Germany. Not sure what that means at this point.

After having it come back on again today, I was able to get it to the dealer while it was still on. After looking at it, they said I may have a faulty hood switch which may be causing it. They replaced it and now we will see.

Had the same issue on our new Pacifica we bought 8/3. Light was on when we purchased it and later found out that battery was dead and they had to jump it the morning we purchased. Light was re-set but Start/stop worked for only first few days and then not again. In addition, having UConnect issues where Bluetooth won't pair no matter the phone. Several trips into dealer and they finally replaced the battery as it tested bad. Start/stop now working again (been 5 days). Radio is also being replaced so we will see if that takes care of the problem. Had a T&C for 7 years with minimal problems but not starting out good with the Pacifica.
