HI all,
Just right off the bat, I really want , and I will buy a Pacifica. I have been waiting for the black seat on the Limited trim, but reading the posts on this forum (and other sites) I am starting to think if I shouldn't wait a little longer for the bugs to get ironed out. I also know, only people with issues (usually) posts anything about it. I'm sure thousands of people are driving them with no issues (or maybe some that we don't get to hear about it).

Before someone jumps and says I'm a Pacifica downer, FAR FROM IT, I can't wait to get mine, but for the last weeks I have seen issues appear online. It started with UConnect , which I was fine with it, since software is software, it gets fixed, but this past week or so, several posts about the car panicking out and TCM , Tranny having to be replaced....

So not here to bash, complain, just friendly talk... I'm about to drop 50k cash for a car :) so don't mind me chit chatting with like folks. :nerd:

Picked up a Limited in Billet Silver from a local dealer back in August. Haven't had any issues with it besides the surround view camera when backing into the garage. There is a work around for that. Hopefully they can fix it on software patch. But I've only got about 650 miles on it so far. I traded in a Ford Flex. The Pacifica is so much nicer going on road trips if you have kids.

There you go see! Happy Pacifica drivers! I guess even who had problems is still happy. And I get it too new car will have issues. I just don't want like the idea of being stranded with kids, BUT to that note it could happen with any car!

Thanks guys ! My biggest conundrum really is if I wait for the black seats :) I really want a Pacifica bad

There's no guarantee the black seats will ever be available. If you want one bad, and one of the other colors isn't a deal-breaker, I wouldn't wait.

ZERO issues with mine - but keep in mind... you're on an owner's forum. People GENERALLY make the effort to seek such forums and interact when they have issues - not when things go great. How many members are subscribed here... and of those members, how many actually had legitimate issues with their vehicles... now compare that to the tens-of-thousands of Pacificas out there being driven. You're seeing a fraction of a fraction of a percent of overall owners/drivers who are experiencing issues.

Let me tell you from being on forums of all my other cars... do *NOT* let the discussions you see here inaccurately represent the majority of the vehicles produced.

EVERY Make/model is going to have a percentage of delivered vehicles that have problems EVERY ONE of them. You will see issues on every owner forum for every make/model/year out there. Do *NOT* let that deter you from making a great purchase.

I have bought MANY new vehicles and this Pacifica Limited is hands-down THE BEST VEHICLE I have ever owned. Period! They knocked it out of the park.

Not everyone posting horrendous sounding problems on this forum (or any other forum) are necessarily legitimate owners. Just saying...some people have agendas and some could be trolls actually working for the competition. Take with a grain of salt new names who drop bombs then go totally silent avoiding all detailed questions from other members. A problem for all forums regardless of brand.

There's a lot of wisdom in waiting to buy though... The news yesterday probably has us all wishing we had September builds with larger upper front door hinges and rewelded A-Pillars even though I know from those same test results that my July built Pacifica is far, FAR safer than any of my four previous minivans and was clearly designed by engineers who are trying very hard to get this right.

My Pacifica has gone back to the dealer for a couple very minor problems but count me as an owner who is very happy with my purchase so far.

I agree with you. The UConnect Theater has not worked on my van since day one. What I don't understand is why should my warranty time be ticking away on this particular system when it hasn't worked since day one? What if they don't have it fixed for six months? I'm very disappointed that Chrysler would ship these vehicles out with a known software problem. Whats more funny is on all the online video reviews etcetera the UConnect Theater is a huge selling point....and it doesn't work!

very happy ownerI

I love my pacifica I have had a couple minor issues that were taken care of very promply. The van is so darn nice a real pleasure to drive. Every car or van I have had has had some minor things but with all that goes into making a car you have to expect that. I would like to say this van is a real good van in all ways. I have a touring l plus in granite gray with black interior with the safety tech option which I dearly love. One happy camper here.

No matter what the manufacturer, I think it's always better to not buy the first year of a new model. There are always issues that get sorted out during the first year. I was ready to purchase last month and had the vehicle picked out, but decided to wait at least until after the beginning of the year and perhaps until the '18s come out. Chrysler in general doesn't have a very good reputation for quality and I'd like to see how the Pacifica does over the next few months. I was pleased to see the safety ratings be so high, but they also confirmed to me that it's better to wait as I wouldn't have wanted to buy a built before September Pacifica and then find out that waiting just a few weeks would have got me a safer rated model. The door flying open in the test is seriously scary to me. I have decided to wait even though I want one now.

Having been an owner for just 2 days now of a Pacifica Limited with Advanced SafetyTec and UConnect Theatre, I have zero problems to report so far!

The van is a pleasure to drive and I am really enjoying all the conveniences; light years ahead of the 2013 Honda Ody I came from in cabin quietness, handling, acceleration, mileage, in-cabin fit and finishes, entertainment electronics, nav, media (HD Radio finally woohoo!) and audio quality.

The advanced safetytec package is a hoot! Cool how it nudges the wheel if you drift too close to the lane marker, adaptive cruise control was fun to use and reassuring to see how nicely it slows down to maintain the distance you set when some numbskull darts in front of you and how it accelerates back up when said numbskull departs. Awesome!

Is the modification to the front doors not possible in a recall? I sure hope it is.
It was redone to make sure the Pacifica got the best safety scores. IIHS did two crash tests for the small overlap crash.. One prior and one after the mod. The one prior received a marginal or in other words, the same as the T&C. see here

it wasnt as dramatic as that. It did come off of the latch part of the door, but the hinges remained in place and it certainly did not fly open. Check out the video
and
is the one after the fix.

To be honest, they look the same to me.

This is a perfect description of how pretty much all car forums work. Well stated. Zero issues for me as well but I haven't had it but a week so hope I didn't jinx myself.

Another point to make, no two accidents are identical. So what are the chances in the real world that an accident would exactly match the IIHS test? A difference of a 1" could make a huge difference in that door staying attached or not, even on the new design.

One other reason to possibly wait IF it is a big deal for you is the POSSIBILITY that MY2018 will have Apple Car Play* and the Android variant. Of course, like black seats in the Limited, that is not a given.

If not - buy one. Later 2017 builds closer to switch-over to MY2018 builds will have some if not most of the fixes - like sun roof rattle - and latest SW updates in place.

Pete

* I think in another thread somewhere on this site it has been determined that ACP requires HW and not just SW, but I dunno.
