I had my front windshield "tinted". It is a legal clear tint made by SunTek that blocks 99% UVA/UVB rays and rejects 44% of solar heat. I live in Miami, FL where the sun shines hot and bright 365 days a year. I have not gone this route on any of my other cars, but considering the size of the Pacifica windshield, I did not want a large sunshade to have to store somewhere in the van. For me, anything not within an arms reach to use is not practical. I'm not going to get out and go in the trunk to fetch a sun shade each time. It has been hot this winter so I have gotten a good feel for what summer will be like. The tint does help block some heat, but obviously is not as good as a sunshade. Downside...if you ever have to get the windshield replaced...the tint goes with it :(

WeatherTech TechShade Sunshade

I am thinking I need a sunshade soon so I am deciding on what I should get.

Can anyone give a review or their opinion on the Weathertech Techshade for their Pacifica or any other front Sunshade they bought or recommend?

What is the best Sunshade for the windshield? The one I have came from my Tahoe and it's not big enough

I think the weathertech may be one of the few that are currently on the market, but if you wait a couple more months, i'm sure there will be fit and cut versions on ebay for much cheaper. I got them from ebay for my XC60 and old Sienna and they fit well, just a little burdensome to store if you always have passengers.

I actually like the Covercraft UVS100. It covers the entire front windshield albeit a small crevice on the side.
Drawbacks are it is big even when u fold it and you need to use your visor to hold it but I have a few solutions to not using the visors.

But overall I like it for what it is..

I'll take some pictures another day if anyone is interested in what it looks like.

sunshade options

Summer has arrived here in Chicago (98 today) and it is time to consider a sun shade for the windshield. I'd like to reopen this thread and see what folks have bought. The sunshade is the best option as I am not planning on tinting the windshield. The custom fit style is preferred.

There are versions that mention a black (velvet?) backing for winter usage. Sounds like that might be presented as a solar powered defroster in the winter which is appealing because in six months I will be chipping ice. Does it work? Not expecting the Arizonans, Floridians, Californians or Texans to chime in on this!

Aside from custom fit, what do the higher priced sunshades offer (i.e. WeatherTech)?

What mounting options do you seen? The last one I had was generic, did not fit well and simply used the visors. I am looking for better.

pepboys has auto expressions brand, they keep heat out well, but even the jumbo is a touch small...mostly u can keep it up with the visors but sometimes it slips down...they are great price too
