Today the Super Console in my Limited Chrysler Pacifica was replaced under warranty. We purchased this unit in August. We have driven over 31K wonderful miles in it without any interior issues until now.

The super console is nice, but it does lack a deep storage compartment for front occupants and is a one piece unit - meaning, if anything breaks on it, the entire super console must be replaced. The super console had a failing sliding drawer cup holder unit. It would not latch on the track in the cup only position for rear passengers. As a result, you could see anything stored in the tunnel compartment and the cups would tend to flip out of the cup holder when driving. (perhaps I should slow it down a little, hahahaha)

The replacement super console works as designed, but leaves me wondering why the engineers designed such a small catch mechanism for the sliding drawer cup holder.

Owners take note, and check it periodically for a possible defect. Hopefully this is an isolated problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

i have an appt this wednesday, but i thought i would chime in with some results. i was reading another post where people had dropped stuff, and had issues trying to recover it. based on that, i pulled the rear door as hard as i could, and it opened, all the way to the end of the track. it would not close unless i slammed it forward, in which it went all the way back closed again. i had to repeat the process to open it back up. i pushed it almost the whole way close for now...just enough to have the cup holders visible. i'm assuming they will just have to replace the complete unit. i'm assuming that with 20k miles on it, it's covered for free.

My '18 Pac Limited with 33k also had a latch failure of the slide out drawer - it wouldn't open. Console is being replaced under warranty. I guess my only thought is, what can we do to prevent this from happening again (aside from never using it)? If it failed once, who is to say it wont fail again? unless of-course there was as a redesign of the mechanism, which I haven't heard of.

my van was a rental vehicle beforehand. i'm sure people beat the **** out of it. the radiator support is broken, and that door was stuck closed. i have had no issue with the console door since it's benn replaced. i just open and close it like a normal person.

I just got a 2018 touring L plus with the super console, but can't get the cup holders to open for the second row. I called the dealer to see if I'm missing something but they said it's $125 diagnostic charge since I'm out of warranty. I definitely don't want to pay them to install a new console, and am hoping there is an easier solution to repairing the locking mechanism. Is there a way I can get it open by using a thin ruler or something so I can work on the latch? Or does someone have a picture of what the drawer latch looks like when it's open? Should have tested this before I bought it, lol

Did you buy this from a dealer or private sale? If a dealer, talk to the salesman that sold you the vehicle to see if he can show you how to open cup holders. They should not charge you to just try to open the cup holders.
