I think more than anything this will be a bit of self-admission of how much I am swayed by my emotions.

My wife and I have test-driven 3 different Pacificas over the last 2 months... and every time we did, we walked away feeling "Yea, it was fine, but not great" (all Limited models).

Now that we finally bought one and had it delivered yesterday... we are finally seeing what all the hub-bub was about and I'm surprised I didn't notice this before.

  • Styling is stunning - to us at least, Limited in Bright White, w/ Alloy interior looks so 'tuxedo shiek' to us.
  • More legroom than we expected - we played in these before and I always felt like the legroom was "fine", didn't feel like much more than Pilot... but after moving into the car, it is about 2x as much in 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows.
  • Car Seats fit GREAT - for those that followed my thread on car seats (forward and rear facing), we were really concerned about this. Turns out, after getting everything installed, we had way more room than we expected and couldn't be happier.
  • Feels really solid and well put together on the road.
  • I have a 2015 Charger SRT and feel like the fit and finish is one of the biggest let downs in that car... I fully expected crappy/cheap/flexey/plastic hardware inside this car, but after using it more regularly (door controls, overhead controls, homelink) it all feels great. Was nicely surprised by this durability.
  • The LITTLE DETAILS everywhere in the fit an finish... convenience lights everywhere outside... under mirrors, under door frames, all through the ceiling in the car, under the 2nd row seats to illuminate the 2nd row passenger floor... so many little touches that are just awesome.
  • MPG for city driving is not great; I don't know that this will bother us, seems exactly on par with our 2006 Pilot. I think when we road trip in it, we'll see the real wins there with a much more efficient engine.
  • Ride height seems to be perfect for us (5'7" and 5'11") - feels like we step sideways in and out of the van; very comfortable transition.

I guess the purpose of this post is for people, like me, to read and walk away with a "if you are on the fence, you will likely be very happy with it."

We were worried about regretting not getting the new Odyssey or the refreshed Sienna... we are so impressed with the van we have no remorse at all. No feeling of "damnit, should have waited and sprung for the XYZ."

Which is unusual... I'm usually super aware of trade-offs I've made.

DISCLAIMER: We are definitely on the new-car high right now (24hrs in) so take this with a grain of salt, but I wanted to share anyway.

Congrats rkalla! I'm glad to hear you're liking the new ride and got the car seats all worked out. Going from a 3-row Explorer to the Pacifica really showed us how much more room there is in a minivan. We're about 4 months in and still love the Pacifica!

Congratulations!!! I'm hoping to be in your shoes later this year. Do you mind sharing what options you got and what kind of deal you got? Did you order one or find one on a dealer lot?
Absolutely - I actually posted all of it here if that helps.

In summary:
  • MSRP $45,635 - Paid $38,626
  • Limited
  • Bright White Ext. / Alloy Int.
  • Advanced SafetyTech & 8Passenger w/ 20" Wheels (deletes the sunroof)

The first time my wife suggested the 8pass w/ Sunroof Delete, I almost talked to an attorney... seemed sacrilegious to get rid of that amazing sunroof... but as we live in Phoenix and talked about it more and more... I realized how much passive heat that allows into the car (penetrating the glass and absorbing into and through the headliner).

We also took two roadtrips that same weekend and realized at the same time (after talking with generaltso on the forums here) that we might WANT to get rid of the sunroof and also might want the 8th passenger seat.

When we went looking for that exactly build, built before Feb 2017 (so not auto start/stop)... there was 1 car... 1 state over (Nevada).

The rest is history - I captured that experience here as it is mildly entertaining.

The car really grows on you. After owning it for nearly seven weeks, there are so many small nuggets and convenience that we are still discovering every week. this week I found out that you can power fold the third row headrests from the uconnect screen bu touching an icon !

the only continuing gripe I have is that the surround cameras go dark whenever lighting is poor -- something I hope Chrysler fixes in the future.

The only thing I've found so far I'm a little unsure of is the thin arm-rests for driver and passenger... I tend to lean on my elbow when I drive or when I'm in pass eat (effectively leaning in towards middle of van) - I found the armrests uncomfortably firm and thin today.

Pretty easy to fix (pad? pillow? anything really) so not too bad.

An awesome parlor trick when somebody is in the third row middle seat alone.
It's an even better trick when you have an older kid back there misbehaving and you can have the headrest whack him in the back of the head :)

I agree that the armrests are too narrow. I raised the driver's side up a bit so at least it's not too low anymore, but my arm still hangs off the side of it.

I have owned some pretty nice cars in my lifetime, Porsche Mercedes and Lexus. I have never been more in love with a vehicle than I am with my new Pacifica which is now four months old. I think the attention to detail inside, outside, in the engine compartment and even underneath is exquisite. I have the eight passenger red limited with the 20 inch wheels and I have already loaded it to capacity with friends twice and they were all pleased with the room they had and how the car rode and how quiet it was. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

When I was looking there was only a single Limited 8 passenger with the safety tech option in the Phoenix area within 100 miles. We got it a month ago. Initial mileage was below our expectations but after about 750 miles we are now getting 23 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Below forecasted highway but I have a led foot.

Today our kids wanted to go for a road trip in the Pacifica on a day with many other alternative options for fun available. That pretty much speaks volumes about this vehicle.. Apparently the on board theater and comfortable ride are rating favorably in their eyes.
