I bought a 2018 Hybrid Limited (45k) with CarMax in the North Bay Area and took the extended warranty out to 75k

No real issues so far other than the servo actuator (easy fix for CarMax thanks to this forum) noise beneath dash when off and a slight rattle in the engine compartment I'm still trying to diagnose.

When it came up on my 30-day return window with CarMax I was really still on the fence... But the faces on my wife and children when I asked them about returning it made it clear that we are keeping the van. We are in love with it and get great EV range from the battery still.

I charge every other day on a Chargepoint Network that is a $2 flat rate walking distance from house since PG&E and the PUC here in Cali are criminals and charging my .38kwh at home right now. And we are getting our solar quote today to get grandfathered into net metering 2.

One thing that I don't see in this thread that you can easily see in a Carfax history is where the vehicle spent it's 1/4 life prev. Mine came from LA... Which means I am relatively confident that the battery did not get that many cycles of charging. Think of the freeways and logistics...it just made sense to me that they were naturally running it more ICE, but who knows.

CarMax did make a point of having me sign the sheet of paper where it says that there warranty does not cover anything related to the battery.

Hello! My wife and I are considering purchasing a 2018 Pacifica PHEV from a dealer. I looked up the vin and it shows all recall work has been completed.

The price for the model seems to be a good deal (I've been researching and waiting for some time), but I am hesitant due to the Z11 recall and it only being a software update that doesn't really fix the root cause.

The van is low mileage and I hope to get a number of years out of it.

Thoughts on purchasing a 2018 hybrid?
My experience is that Hybrids aren't worth the money and recovery of the costs in fuel savings did not materialize. If you keep a car for along time the Hybrid has many expensive parts, reiterative brakes, batteries. No give me a gas car as I live in a hurricane zone and when it blows I want to fill it with gas and go! What are you going to do with 30 electric miles? The Chrysler 6 can go 200K_300K miles and haven't heard of a Hybrid ever going the max.

Yep, biggest part is that once you need repair - it's usually much more expensive for hybrids. I'd say you can save quite a bit on fuel over really long time, but maintenance pretty much crosses it all out sadly...
