Just over 400 mi. on the vehicle and out of nowhere the touchscreen freezes and the phone display is what I see. The 360 Surround only works in Reverse! An apparent tech issue, maybe not? Tonight, randomly the AC quit blowing cold air, the touch screen was frozen, the paired phone suddenly wasn't recognized and when I stopped to try to fix the problem the lights wouldn't turn off after the vehicle was off and I had exited and closed the doors!! Unlocked the vehicle and turned the headlight knob several times, closed the door again and the lights went off. The only way I have found to temporarily fix the problem is to stop and park, turn off vehicle, exit and lock vehicle, wait around a while and use the remote to restart the vehicle. An unplug and re-boot of the system. Calling the dealer first thing in the morning and hoping this isn't a recurring issue.

If it freezes again, you can reboot the Uconnect system by holding in the Mute and Tune buttons for about 7 seconds. Not sure that will fix everything, but it's worth a shot.

Left It at the Dealer!!

After contacting the online chat last night just to have the issue documented, I called the dealer this morning and took the vehicle in. Of course I couldn't replicate the exact problem. However, as I was sitting in the vehicle with a service guy at the dealer, service guy was able to replicate one issue! Unfortunately it isn't just a software update and diagnostics didn't show a code. Left the vehicle at the dealer so am now waiting for a phone call. Not feeling good about this!!
Maybe I should have kept my Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock:(

My wife just called me and her screen froze as well. The mute and tune button reset did not seem to work either.
Did she hold them in for a while? It's a good 7-10 seconds that you have to hold them before it reboots.

Here's What Worked

The process I went through:
To unfreeze the screen, reboot the vehicle.
Turn off, exit and lock vehicle with key fob.
Walk away, return and using key fob REMOTE restart vehicle.
Access your online Chrysler Account and complete an online chat to document the issue. Be sure to print the chat or copy, paste & save.
Call Chrysler also to document the issue.
Call your dealer to schedule a service. My dealer was great and said to bring it in that day.
Ride around town to recreate the issue. If you recreate the issue DO NOT turn off the vehicle and go to the dealer so they can see the issue. Again, DO NOT turn off the vehicle.
If you cannot recreate the issue, have the service rep. get in the vehicle and push all the icons/buttons, do everything to attempt to recreate the issue. If he/she can recreate the issue have him/her drive it back to the service technician/mechanic to see it. (This is what I had to do)
In my case the dealer had to order a new touch screen so they kept the vehicle overnight, replaced the screen the next morning and voila! no more problem. I now LOVE my Pacifica! and so does my Dog and my 85 yr old mother. However, I do miss my Unlimited Jeep Rubicon Hard Rock, LOL for obvious reasons;)

Yes, the dealer fixed it!! A simple fix was replacing the Touchscreen. I suggest you call Mopar/Chrysler to register your issue for documentation just in the case the dealer gives you a hard time. Mopar/Chrysler should give you a case complaint confirmation number. The pain in the **s about the situation was that during freeze out I had no Touchscreen functions such as Navigation, Backup camera, observable radio functions, telephone/Bluetooth etc.

Good Luck and be sure to let us know how the repair works out for you.

This morning I was about 600 miles away from home just leaving a rather remote marina road when my touch screen would not respond. On this forum folks are calling this a "screen freeze" but actually the Map View in Navigation continues to move and directions are still voiced by the system. I did a "Reset" but the touch screen still would not respond. I did stop the vehicle and shut off the engine and even opened and closed the door ...this still did not fix anything. I then choose to just let the Navigation continue run without me touching anything. I determined that just before I pulled off for lunch I should chance depressing the Radio button and see if the screen changed from the Map View to the Radio Station. It worked and continued to work all the way home. I guess at this point I will wait to see if the issue recurs because I don't know that just having the Dealer replace the Touch Screen would actually fix the issue. Kind of concerning that so many features are dependent on the touch screen working.

Has anyone had any success with this issue? I?ve had my Pacifica for a whole 9 days and my screen started freezing yesterday. It worked this morning, but is now frozen again. I called tech support for Uconnect and they had me try the soft reset (holding the mute and browse buttons down) the screen reset, but did not fix the issue! This is the 3rd Chrysler I?ve owned and after my terrible PT Cruiser a few years back I vowed to never get another. I got sucked in the the Pacifica and decided it give Chrysler another shot and I?m already regretting it!

AnnieMint,
I have the same issues. Here's what I posted yesterday. Happens at least once a day, twice today.

We have only had our Pacifica for 9 days and so far pairing my phone wouldn't download my contacts, Uconnect Access app wouldn't work with both of us logged in and now the touchscreen froze up and had a mind of it's own.

Last night driving to a competition, a question popped up asking if we wanted to adjust the clock. Touching either the X out or the "no" answer did not work. It would disappear and pop back up again.

After the competition the clock question started right back up and this time we weren't able to use any of the touch screen. It flashed from the clock question back to climate and back again. Then it went into the settings and started randomly changing things like back up guide lines, park assist, etc. We just watched it uncheck and check boxes without anyone touching the screen. Then it clicked the ASSIST app. At this point we just went ahead to talk with them to see what they could make of it. They transferred us to Chrysler.

Chrysler had us try to reboot. After following their instructions it had no effect. At this point they told us they couldn't help anymore and to contact the dealer.

We shut off the car completely (not in acc) and got out, but the radio and inside lights remained on. My husband locked the doors and still everything stayed on. He then unlocked it and got in and restarted the car at which point the screen started working again. He was then able to turn off the car and all lights, radio etc. finally went off.

This morning it all started again with the clock warning and no touch ability. After church it started working at restart.

The phone pairing and uconnect app was annoying, but now with the screen having a mind of it's own we are really questioning our purchase.

Can't help but wonder if those of us that have experienced this "Touch Screen Response Issue" have particular similarities in our vehicles or our actions that would help to diagnose this/these issue/s. I have experienced this problem only on one day. I know in my case I was just heading out for a very long trip home and thus was trying to setup Navigation to lead the way. The Pacifica had been sitting idle for about four days in a Marina parking area. Everything had worked flawlessly during the some 600 mile journey to that marina. After the Response Issue occurred and the Reset didn't fix the issue, I drove all morning just giving up on thinking it might begin to work. Just before stopping for lunch I tried depressing the Radio Icon and it worked. I have never seen a recurrence of the issue. Our Pacifica was manufactured 6-17.

AnnieMint,
I have the same issues. Here's what I posted Sunday. Happens at least 1-2 times a day now. Feels like at least 50% of the time the screen is frozen.

Just had the uconnect system replaced by dealer around the end of November because the screen would freeze and then start resetting itself over and over again. Now the new system is doing the same. The screen is frozen and I’ve tried doing a soft reboot to no avail! This is beyond frustrating! I’m not sure why they would replace the system with the exact same system if there are so many issues with it. I’m seeing that this is an issue for a lot of Pacifica owners! It seems that someone should come up with an upgraded system to replace the current one! The vehicle is still under warranty and I can get it replaced again, but I’m sure I’d end up with the same issue again.
On top of all of this the customer service at the dealership we went to was awful! Now I have to go back there again!
Very frustrated!

I've posted this in other threads, but if you are having any type of weird electrical issues, you need to check and seat your fuses. Its very simple - just pop the hood, open the fuse box, and press down on all of your fuses. You'll be amazed at how many of them are not seated well and will be pushed into place. This only takes a minute, and has been reported to clear up many electrical gremlins, and is not something the dealership is aware of.

Then I recommend disconnecting both batteries for a few minutes, or even overnight to reset the system.

The above may not solve all your issues, but its very easy and worth a shot before heading to the dealership.
