I have always owned Honda, Acura, and Toyota. This is the first time owning a van and a Chrysler. I was undecided on the new Odyssey and the Pacifica. However, once I plugged in the numbers, with discount, I am getting the Pacifica for the same price as the new Odyssey EX with all the safety features which is the #1 priority on my list. To get blind spot monitoring, I have to upgrade to the Elite on the Honda! The interior and driving so far is superb.

The only misgivings is the reliability of Chrysler. I hope I don't regret it and that the new FCA is focused on reliability. However, at least I feel much better knowing that my almost 20K savings versus the comparable Odyssey Elite will mitigate an potential issues down the road.

Welcome! Congratulations on your new van!

For peace of mind, it may be worth taking some of that $20k savings and buy a Chrysler Maxcare warranty. There are very flexible options based on years/mileage or "lifetime" to provide a close approximation to the bumper to bumper warranty coverage for years to come. With all of the bells and whistles in the Touring L Plus I chose the Maxcare Lifetime with $100 deductible which only set me back about $2600. Most of the other options are even cheaper. Unlike most extended warranties this is backed by Chrysler and service can be obtained at any FCA dealership. You can buy the warranty from any FCA dealer all the way through your 3yr/36k factory warranty period, but you get a price break for buying during the first 12mo/12k. There are some existing threads here on the subject with recommendations for dealers to get the best prices from.

I will definitely consider this before my first 12 months is up. I want to figure out my driving usage and the first year reliability before I take into account what plan to purchase. You're right, why worry about reliability when I can get lifetime warranty included with the car for significantly less than the competing vehicle. Thanks!
