Does anyone know what the touring suspension option gives you?

This is how Chrysler describes the two suspension versions. I've never driven one with the normal duty suspension, so I'm not sure how different it drives if at all.

The only difference I can see is the Touring Suspension is "specially-tuned for an exceptionally smooth ride", whatever that means.

Normal Duty Suspension
The suspension system on Chrysler Pacifica non-hybrid models consists of independent MacPherson struts, coil over gas-charged shock absorbers and a stabilizer bar with hydroformed steel perimeter cradle in the front and an independent twist-blade with coil springs and twin-tube shock absorbers with integrated rebound springs in the rear.

You get the all season Michelins for one. That's the biggest reason I bought it. It does give a nice ride, but I can't compare it to the standard suspension.

Not necessarily. It depends on which wheels you have. My 20" wheels have Falken tires.
True, but the base option for the touring suspension option gives you the 18" AS michelins with the package. If you opt up for larger wheel stock, I'm not sure what they wrap them in. We wanted a set of 18" wheels to allow us to wrap them in winter tires when the time came. I figured I'd go with an alternative option for summer wheels next spring, so we didn't want to pay for the Oem 20s from the beginning. I think the standard suspension gets you 17" wheels with some kumho rubber. No thanks.

ok, so maybe it's just the michelins. I thought there would be a difference in strut/shock/spring/sway bar.

It appears it's just in the "tuning" of them. Sounds like mostly marketing to me.

Looked through the Pacifica parts catalog. Only difference is different shocks/struts dampening calibrations. There are different rear shocks with different part numbers between Touring & Standard suspension.
It looks like you can only get the Touring suspension with the larger wheels (18 vs 17 inch on most trims). So is it just tuning due to the wheel size and/or unsprung weight difference?

I just pulled up the microfiche for the Touring vs. LX models and couldn't see a difference. Can you shed more light on actual part differences?

hunt_ak, the "touring" in touring suspension is not a direct reference to the trim level. The touring suspension is an option on the Touring L and Touring L Plus. It is standard on the Limited. If you pull the microfiche on the Touring L you should see two different suspensions.

Okay after reading thru thread I'm not sure if I'm missing out on anything apart from 18" tires by not going with Touring Suspension package, is it right to assume ?
My guess is the shock rates are slightly differ. most production cars, standard vs sport the only difference is which shocks come with it, all other geometry and components are the same. If I were to guess there are two different shock options.
I feel like we never really reached a conclusion here. Has anyone driven both?
I doubt the standard suspension could be worse than my 2008 Grand Caravan.
I would like the comfiest ride and not to feel every bump too harshly. I am not as concerned about a super sporty feel.
I don't know for sure but I'd guess you want standard suspension, touring is probably a big "sportier". Standard handles pretty well anyway, especially for a van.

I have. A touring "Fleet" and my Touring L Plus. There is a difference, but both drove really well. I got the touring package for the larger 18" wheels as I liked the rims better than the OEM Touring L plus rims. The rubber does make a huge difference. I was sliding all over the place with the 17" tires on that Touring Fleet in the rain. The 18's handles very well in the rain.

18" with bridgestone 7/17 Limited depends on supplies.
hello, anybody have any updated information on regular vs touring suspension? i would think the "touring" would be sportier (stiffer) which would be the opposite of "exceptionally smooth" as they describe it. Obivously talking about the suspension independently of wheel choice which would also affect the ride.
