Have about 400 miles on my pacifica LX and today as I was driving on the interstate the transmission light came on, an alert about the parking brake not working and something about the transmission (didn't catch it), and the RPM's increased from around 1500 to 2000 as if it downshifted to a lower gear.

At the stoplight after I exited I had to push the gas down pretty far and the revs went into the 3,000 before slowly acceleration....like something was seriously "slipping" in the transmission.

Got home, did a few things for about an hour, then drove over to the dealer, the light stayed on but the van performed normally.

Once at the dealership they said "let's see what the code is", I pulled it around, the warning light went out, and the scanner tool thing said there were no codes. They were like "come back if it isn't right" which seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

It drove normally for the rest of the day, maybe 20 miles of in town driving.

So...anybody else experience this? Does this ring any bells? I'm not having a fit about this or anything but it was kinda weird.

I believe this could be because of a fault TCM. We had the same issue and a couple of days later our Pacifica just died on us and we had to take it to the dealer who told us that the TCM module needs to be replaced.

Hope that helps

I sure hope that doesn't happen. Or maybe I hope it happens soon at a convenient time and not during some kind of long trip. It's been fine since...so I guess we'll see :)

What does TCM stand for? Transmission Computer Module maybe?

Yes. Or a.k.a. Transmission Control Module

You also see
ECM - Engine Control Module
PCM - Powertrain Control Module (a combo of ECM + TCM)

There are other derivatives too but any mechanic or automotive engineer would accept either Computer or Control in everyday usage because the controller these days is almost always a small computer/microprocessor/embedded controller

my trans started acting a little odd: when you let off the gas at less than 40mph and then gently (normally) apply the gas to maintain speed, there's a brief clicking noise as the trans spools up with power from the engine. It's like the clicking is in the re-engagement after the trans has not been receiving any torque input from the engine.

This happened to us... about three hours from home and 30 mins from our condo. Error messsage: Trans issue, Pull over, stop, shut off vehicle. RPMs: up then normal. Stopped soon for gas, vehicle wouldn't start... nothing. Started after about 30 minutes, drove normally back to condo. The vehicle started, ran normally for the next three days, the everything started error messaging and again I couldn't start, kept getting many error messages. Left vehicle to be towed to a dealership. The tow truck driver called and wanted to know what the issue was... the van started normally for him. .???? The dealership called the following day, also said it started normally for them! After the mechanic checked he found 50 error messages! The mechanic then got in the Chrysler web (open only to dealers???) followed suggestions and said he found all was well... cleared all error messages. After a few days, I drove the vehicle home (about 3 hours) and it ran great! .??? I have driven the van for about a week now and have not experienced any issues! Happy but confused!
