Here is my understanding.
1) No subscription needed for Navigation, but for traffic and Gas pricing you do (SiriusXM) (a 5 year complimentary subscription is included, 1 year for SiriusXM radio).
2) No Nav is independant from your phone, though you can send destination addresses from your phone through UConnect App.
3) No signal needed from your phone (you could leave it home).
4) Yes, you can add "Approved" apps when subscribed. I think all available are initially installed (1 year subscription is included).
5) You loose Uconnect App, and all 3rd party apps (Yelp, Aha, Iheart, etc.) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio after one year. SiriusXM travel link & Traffic after 5 year subscription runs out.

Uconnect 8.4 vs 8.4 Nav

I understand the 8.4 comes without navigation. I also seem to understand that it is dealer upgradeable.
Any idea once its upgraded if it gives me the same features as if I would've taken the 8.4 nav? Or do I lose stuff?
Will I still be able to have turn by turn on the instrument panel?

I actually bought a touring L and it did not come with a nav from factory and we added it thru the dealership and you still get the turn by turn on the instrument panel, i dont think u loose anything, nothing i can tell, but one thing is noticeable is how fast this navigation when looking for stuff or putting in address.

How much did they charge for adding nav?

I own a 2011 Dodge Durango with the uconnect navigation system. I bought it new. I am looking at the Pacifica with navigation as well. A tip here for all: try to negotiate a lifetime update on maps and traffic on the nav system with dealer, or within 18 or so months your navigation system will tell you that an update is available. The update will cost you $150 to get. Since I don't have the lifetime updates on my nav system in my vehicle and refuse to pay Garmin $150 per their update, I bought a garmin that has lifetime updates and use that instead along with my iPhone. Although my uconnect system works, it is not as accurate today with new roads and other information found on my portable garmin. So, be aware you are not getting a lifetime update (I think) on the Pacifica, and the maps will soon be out of date.

Without the Uconnect subscription, you will lose some things. The Uconnect app which allows remote vehicle location, remote door lock/unlock, remote start, etc. from your cell phone will stop working. The surprise was the loss of the over-the-air updates to the radio/nav system software. This is not a map upgrade, but the updates to the system software. The only way to get the system updates without the Uconnect subscription is to go to the dealer ($).

That’s not true. You can still get Uconnect system updates without a Uconnect Access subscription.

My Uconnect subscription expired in November, but I didn’t delete the app on the phone. It still shows recent tire pressure, gas, oil ... etc information but you obviously lose the remote functions such as remote start, lock, panic, Text Font Line Screenshot Technology
etc.
this screen shot was taken just a few days ago.

That's funny. I just bought my Pacifica hybrid and that app hasn't shown me the correct info since the first week!
Hi, I'm sorry to hear this. Please let me know if you plan on visiting a dealership for this concern. I would be happy to open a case for you.
