I have an odd bug happening today. The uconnect theater app won’t open. The movie is playing on the rear screens and the remote control works but the app won’t open. I’ve tried in park and drive and I’ve tried turning off the van and opening the door to reset. With my phone plugged in and unplugged. Ive tried ejecting the blu ray. When I tap the theater app icon, after a delay it opens the media app instead. Taping the theater button on that screen doesn’t work either. Hoping I don’t have to mess with fuses. I don’t think it is the 55 fuse since the rear screens play.

I would give F55 a try nonetheless. It's believable that a hard reboot would fix your problem.

If I recall 069 was the hard reset and 055 was the rear screen controller.

I parked it and I’ll let it be and see if that does anything. If not I will try a reset. I think the Chrysler cares rep on here posted soft reset instructions as well.

Just an update...I can reproduce this by starting Apple Play before trying to access the theater app. I can get the theater app to work by opening it first. Sample size is still small so I’ll keep fooling with it. My guess is they didn’t put in enough ram to run both.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Seeing similar issues with my 2018 Hybrid. Very erratic though. It works for days without issue and then bringing up screen control menu shows blank. Movie plays on back screens fine, but can't do anything from front. I'm not able to replicate, but it does see to be more likely to occur when I'm switching from listening to podcast (via bluetooth) and then trying to switch to Theater menu.

If you have a DVD in the player try ejecting the disc and see if that helps. The black screen glitch happened to my wife on a 2-hour drive (each way) with the kids. She was beyond frustrated. I got in the van this morning and again the uConnect Theater app just showed a black screen. The moment I hit the eject button on the Blu-ray/DVD player the black screen disappeared and the app came up.

Hi jreuter814,
I know that you are just reaching out to other forum members for advice on this. However, if you choose to get this looked into further by your dealer, we would be more than happy to offer our additional support. Just send our team a private message with additional details.

I’m having this issue too. Very frustrating. Bought a van with the screens to make road trips better and they are just more frustrating. Any solutions yet? Thinking about taking our old Odyssey on road trips instead of this useless system.

This is also happening in my 2018 Pacifica Hybrid. Very frustrating with 4 girls in the back on a road trip. I can't control anything for movies and can't play the sound over the main speakers. Only the 2 in the middle can hear on headphones and can control with remote.

This issue is (mostly) fixed by the software update for the rear screens - if you haven’t been through a cumbersome update procedure with a USB drive, you don’t have it. Try that first and see it it helps.

Having the same issue, purchased the car on Thursday, 280 miles. UConnect Theater worked great all weekend but now getting the black screen. Ejecting the disc with the black screen up doesn't help, and we are going on a 12 hour road trip on Thursday.

Website also says my VIN is up to date, can that be trusted to indicate whether or not the rear screen update is available?

So I installed the USB video system update and it seemed to fix the problem of the theater screen going black. However, I then received an OTA UConnect update about a month ago and since then the black screen issue has returned and it is even more frequent and worse then before.

I cannot find a local dealer who knows anything about these systems. My car sat at the shop for over a month and I begged them to install the video update which they finally just told me they did only to find out that they did not and I had to do it on my own. As going in for service is not an option I am not sure what to do tto get this to work. The entire point of this vehicle is ruined and it is worse then not having the system at all as the kids cannot understand why it is there and simply does not work. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Lemming, the software updated showed up for me on the Uconnect website.

I attached a screenshot of the update info.
Same issue here, mine goes black easily 9 times out of 10 that we start the car, and yet the website says no updates available. Does anyone have the file so we can try the update anyway?
That’s the one that was released in January. There is another one that was just released in the summer, but as far as I know only dealers have access to it at the moment.

Hello All,

I understand your concerns and how frustrating this may be, hopefully I can be of some assistance. There are two things we can check. First enter your vin in the Uconnect site below and see if you have the latest software, hopefully this address the issue. Secondly there was a Service Bulletin (Bulletins have to be performed at FCA dealers) that was released in mid July which address some of the symptoms mentioned.

https://www.driveuconnect.com/support/software-update.html

2017's Bulletin 08-072-18
2018's Bulletin 08-007-18

Please let us know if you need any additional assistance.
