Does anyone know if it is possible to use my own headphones (bose Bluetooth qc35) with the uconnect system?

I know the system comes with 2 headsets but I would rather use my own or my kids/family may want to use their own for comfort etc.

Thanks.

If it's like every other in-vehicle system I've seen, it likely uses infrared and not Bluetooth.

I think the reason they use IR in backseat systems is to ensure that they don't interfere with any driver systems. Since IR is directional, it also allows them to make the headphones stop working if they get passed to the front seat.

Has anyone found any additional IR headphones that work with the system? I have five kids, but the system only came with 2 sets of headphones. I ordered 2 sets of dual-channel UConnect ones from previous systems, but they won't pick up the IR signal on either channel, so those are about to get returned. I found the 68239856AB in stock on two Mopar sites, but they are cost-prohibitive. ($85-$90 for 1 headphone)

Has anyone had any success adding additional IR headphones?

I know I can run cables or any other number of inelegant solutions, but I'm really trying to utilize the IR system.

Actually, from what I can tell, the 68239856AB part number may include 2 pairs of headphones. There's also a 68239853AB part number for the Pacifica that's about half the price, so that's probably a single pair.

The ones I ordered were part number 05091277AA from here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JDDUG1C/

Part number 68239853AB is for the remote.

Kit: 68222892AC (two on sale on ebay at the moment for $200!)
Headphone: 68239856AB
Remote: 68239853AB

The headphone part number MIGHT come with two, but if I'm reading the parts breakdown correctly, it's only one. One of the sites has it for $90 plus $20 to ship (!). I might have to bite the bullet and buy one from one of the sites and see what comes in. I was just hoping someone else had already solved this so I could know for sure before I made any more orders.

Well, that's frustrating. I just assumed the universal ones would work, but I didn't actually try them until seeing your post. Quite annoying that they don't work. It's interesting that when I tried them, there was static on them until I turned on Uconnect Theater. Then the static went to silence. That change shows that it is receiving the IR signal, it's just not able to play the sound for whatever reason.

Yeah, it kind of blows my mind that they wouldn't have easy scalability for the system. I have a 7 seat configuration, and even if I used the headphone jacks, without a splitter only 4 of the back 5 can use headphones.

I wish there would have been an option for more earphones.

I wonder if that Bluetooth transmitter I linked on the previous page lets you have multiple BT headphones paired to it at a time. If so, that might be the way to go.

Answering my own question, it looks like that particular one can only have one pair of BT headphones paired at a time. But I bet there are other BT transmitter options without that limitation.

My order came in. Only one. Everything worked well when I used the two that came with the system and added the third one. Just a shame that it takes something with an MSRP of $127 to scale up a system by one from two users in a people mover. At least it works and I won't have to run cables tot e back seat.

Thanks for being the guinea pig on ordering another set of headphones. It's good that the additional set works as expected, but that price is pretty crazy.
