Has anyone else had problems with the little cover to the batteries breaking? In less than 6 months both mine have broken near the release under what I would consider normal use by two young kids. No slamming or dropping that I know of. I'm wondering if it's a design issue because the the cover holds the batteries in under a lot of pressure and, of course, the headphones do not work once that little cover is broken.

Mine are still intact. My daughter uses them almost every day and they usually fall off her head unto the floor when she falls asleep and they have held up well. I have not opened the battery compartment door or changed batteries yet. Not sure if that weakens the joints or latch.

I've noticed most of the marketing pictures show the headphones stored in the seatback pockets with the earpieces facing up. Leaving the earpieces exposed all the time seems like it would increase the chances of damage with people getting in and out of the car (and little feet kicking the seats), so I store them the other way (with the headband up). Not sure it really makes much of a difference, but I don't see how it could hurt. Those headphones are way too expensive at over $100 each.

The battery door has broken on one of ours also. I think one of our kids stepped on it. With two young ones, it is pretty difficult to make sure that the headphones and remotes are where they should be - I accept it as a maintenance cost though it does seem like a different design might be more durable.

I've had three headphones break. The firsr was replaced under warranty by the dealer, but took nearly 3 months for the replacement to arrive. I now have two broken ones:(
Hi sramsdell,

Have you contacted Unwired to get new headphones?

From what i could tell during my readings on the UConnect Theater manual, it appears that they use IR to transmit to the headset. I looked on amazon, and found a ton that are going for $70 for a 4 pack of decent wireless headphones, but I have not yet bought them because our still work...well, at least one of them, the other one seemed to have failed as soon as it turned on the first time.

As such, I'm assuming these are NOT covered under warranty, so I'll probably pick up one of these sets of Amazon to keep the wireless functionality. Otherwise, I'll just buy a cheapo set that the kids can just plug into the headphone jack when they want to.

Unfortunately, the universal IR headphones don't work in the Pacifica. Even prior year Mopar ones don't work. The only ones that have been confirmed to work are the Uconnect ones that came with the Pacifica. You can order extras, but they're about $100 each. Check out this thread:

Well, that's rather unfortunate. Looks like I'll be going with a separate bluetooth/headset through the headphone jack or just physically plug in a set of headphones. Luckily, i only have 2 kiddos in the rear, but that's very disappointing that replacements costs so much.

Yes mine broke in half upon a simple fall to the carpet of the car. Are they covered? Car is only 6 months old. I am going to get external AA box with switch (1.99) and tape them onto the headphones and wire them into the case (hard part, but I think possible). I tried using back take to close the door, but it did not work.

What is the recourse with these headphones? I have one where the battery compartment door has broken as well. It is truly a bad design and these should be replaced because of this at Chrysler's expense. If new headphones are ordered is the design changed or am I going to just be paying $100 every 4-6 months for new headphones? Look at how many people are complaining already! My vehicle is less than 6 months old and it appears the entertainment system will be my biggest maintenance expense!

Check with your dealer. They may replace them under warranty, but they will be the same design.

For what it's worth I was able to buy the complete Pacifica Uconnect Theater backseat kit including two headphones plus two remote controls off eBay for $80 so that works out to $20 per component.

Anyone looking for extras should jump on this while there's still a set available. That's a fantastic price.
