I also got two replacements (after emails) even though only one was broken (which I sent to them). We don’t get to use the headphones that much anymore and therefore the three remaining are in good (unused) condition. BTW there is absolutely no difference between the original and the replacement headphones.

It's not pretty but packing tape works to hold the battery door in place.

I just got off the phone - dedicated wireless headphone warranty line is 248-813-2371. (I got that number from calling the aptiva number 248 724 5900 mentioned above - got that from the uconnect customer care number way back on page two or three of the thread. :))

They asked if it was the original pair (it is), make and model details, mailing address and email. Supposedly replacements are on the way and should arrive in 2-3 weeks. Once I got through the three calls to get the direct number, it was painless. Took about 5 minutes on that number. Once the replacements arrive I have to give them a code off of the old set and then just dispose of the old set.

(My vehicle was purchased Nov '17. Headphone broke this winter - fell the short drop from the van floor to the driveway. Broke in the exact spot everyone else is sending pictures of)
The battery cover on our two sets of headphones broke within a few months as well. Sent an email last night to hpservice at aptiv dot com. Thought I'd try calling the number above for quicker service. Went straight to voicemail. Not sure if I called too late or if they're swamped.

I saw on another thread that the real fix is to take apart the headphones (they said there are three screws, pretty simple to take apart) and snip the battery spring so it doesn't push so hard against the cover.

To all with broken battery doors...the Uconnect headphones are covered by a lifetime warranty against breakage. Contact [email protected] and you will be taken care of! Now my latest issue is the earpiece foam...not covered under warranty...has anyone found replacement pads?

I recommend opening them up and clipping the internal spring that presses on the batteries a little bit. That will reduce the pressure on the batteries and battery door. I’ve done that with my replacements and have not had a reoccurrence of the issue.

I know if they break again they are still covered but it’s annoying to have to deal with so figured I’d try to avoid having to deal with it again.

Do you have any old headphones that have broken doors? I have been keeping my old ones for parts like the foam pads in case I need to replace one.

Yes. I’ve had three sets replaced so far. They didn’t ask for the old ones back so I’m keeping them for parts.

Hello vdubpower,

We're sorry to hear you're having a tough time wit your headphones. Feel free to connect with Aptiv at 248-724-5900 as they warrant the headphones and would be happy to help.

Has anyone else had problems with the little cover to the batteries breaking? In less than 6 months both mine have broken near the release under what I would consider normal use by two young kids. No slamming or dropping that I know of. I'm wondering if it's a design issue because the the cover holds the batteries in under a lot of pressure and, of course, the headphones do not work once that little cover is broken.
One pair broke the first week I had the car. The other within a month. They are crap.

I just called. The number to APTIV that I was given was 888-293-3332. I spoke to someone. They took my information. I'm supposed to receive the new headphones in 2-3 weeks.

My replacement headphone just broke in the same spot. Annoyed since there aren't any decent third party headphones on the market yet. Contacted Aptiv again.

When you email Aptiv the reply will be "send us more info." Here is the info they need. You can probably save some time by sending the details first thing.

[email protected]

Thanks for contact us,
We can start a case for you. Please fill out the information below and we will send you a case number with instructions on what to do with the headphones.

1. Verify the headphones have Uconnect written on the side of them (design of the picture attached)

2. Address where you want the headphones shipped to (with city, state, zip code/postal code)
3. Phone Number
4. Number of headphones with broken battery door
5. Full VIN of the vehicle
6. Owner name

Once you give us this information and we create a case for you, you will receive an email with your case number and instructions on next steps.

Sincerely,
Aptiv Headphone Warranty

Can confirm emailing [email protected] is the correct point of contact to getting replacement headsets. They responded right away and within a day I had a support ticket open and was in the queue to have replacements shipped.
Just got my 2 replacement headsets in the mail yesterday. Took 3 weeks to process the shipment and less than a week to ship to Canada. The replacements are identical to the OEM headsets (the dealer kept giving us the wrong ones for our Uconnect Theatre so I was happy to see the right ones).
Have to send them unit codes from my originals, and they're not asking for the others to be shipped back. Keeping mine for parts too, may try the spring trim and reinforce the hatch on one of the broken ones, but I'm going to leave the new ones as they are.
