Has your UConnect Theater needed a dealer trip?

We're on the cusp of replacing a Forester with either a Pathfinder Platinum or Pacifica Limited. We're at an impasse of whether to spring for the Theatre and 10" screens (...and sound) package given the horror stories of the UConnect being a pain -- requiring multiple dealer trips to semi-rectify.

I've looked around and haven't seen a poll so starting this one to get a gauge of this is a mountain or a molehill of an issue. Don't mind spending for the package but if it's going to have issues with undefined resolution date, better off springing for two iPad Air's...

Thanks!

Not sure if you're looking for reports on any Uconnect issues or just issues with Uconnect Theater. Regardless, I voted yes since my Pacifica is at the dealer right now because there's static any time it plays an optical disc.

Thanks for the reply, and that's a good point! UConnect is there whether you like it or not, but I am really looking for UConnect Theatre. Let me revise.

When working it's great, but mine does crash from time to time. They are actively working on a fix, but my guess is they will end up replacing the entire head unit, but I'm okay with that. Have you considered going with a Touring-L Plus, where it comes standard? You would be out the door for several thousand $ less with comparable options.

Hmmmm have we missed something? The UConnect "Theatre" is an option package on all higher trims?

Correct. Uconnect Theater is standard on the Touring L Plus, but it's an option on the Limited. It's kinda weird that they did it that way.

I must be missing something. The Touring-L+ in Canada doesn't have the 10" touch screens. It DOES list two items:

Premium instrument panel with 7"...in-cluster display center
Uconnect 8.4 multimedia center, nav-ready

I have a feeling the options are different in the US.

EDIT: Looks like it. The UConnect Theatre Group is $2,495 CAD for the L+ here.

Ah, yes. Sorry, I'm not as familiar with the configurations in Canada. They do appear to be different from the US offerings.

I was one of the no votes but, honestly, we haven't used it all that much yet. Some long trips coming up soon so I'm hoping I don't have to change my vote. There's obviously a weakness in the design related to crashing and I do have an early July build. Fingers crossed.
