Hi. I was driving my 2019 Pacifica Limited today and I hit a big bump. Later, I noticed that the fabric undercarriage underneath the second row driver's side had about a basketball size hole. The material was dragging on the road, so I just cut it off (I tried to duct tape it but it wouldn't hold).

A few questions:

(1) How urgent is it to get this repaired?
(2) If it's not urgent, should I repair it before my lease is up (March '21) or just keep driving on it?
(3) What do you think a dealer would charge to repair this?
(4) Does this increase my risk for rust?

Overall, the urgency is probably not too high. As long as you do at least try to cover it somehow. As the paint is scratched, it could definitely increase the risk of rust. Because it is located under the vehicle, it would be easy to just get a spray can of a rust inhibiting paint that is close to the color of your vehicle.
I have no experience leasing so I'll leave that question to those more knowledgeable than I.
Any dealer charge would depend on what has to be replaced. If you kept the part you cut off, they may be able to just patch that in place. If not, they may have to replace a large sheet of whatever that material is.

It’s a underpays silencer . The unfortunate thing is that your responsible for it being the lease owner . If it goes back and nobody catch he’s it your off hook , but if gets noticed during lease give back inspection you’ll be on tap . The piece is a fairly big piece as it sits under the undercarriage .

John needs to look at the details in the lease. Is he responsible for road hazards.

Without seeing it, my first inclination would be to take all the fabric off, and let the rest of the underside weather some by next March, and it may easily go unnoticed on turn in.

My 2018 Pacifica LX has no undercarriage pan. It's just for sound deadening so I wouldn't be too concerned.

I have a $5,000 deductible on the lease return, so it sounds like all I need to worry about is if not having it would cause $5,000 of damage to the undercarriage. It sounds like the answer is no - but if anyone disagrees, please let me know!

If I was in your shoes I’d see what would cost to install a new one because if lease return goes back and they hammer you for new they will probably try and hammer away for things associated with undercarriage
