Hey all I'm new here and this forum looks great.

I recently purchased a limited model with the vacuum cleaner. The dealer did not install the hose and when I tried to do it, I messed it up and ripped the hose. It appears that in the instructions, it tells you to lube the hose ( no lube was included ) before installing. Just wanted to know if any of you had the vacuum and was it installed by the dealer. I know I made an error, but if this should be a dealer installed item, then my sales person should not have told me to just install it myself. (it's easy he said - but it's not)

Hi Gary. Welcome to the forum! Yes, dealers should be installing the vacuum hose, but it seems that a lot of them do not. Mine was installed, but they never clipped the end to the suction port, so it didn't work until I did that. I don't think it's unreasonable for you to ask the dealer to provide you with another hose since they didn't install it for you. Their cost on that part is probably pretty small.

Thank you for the quick response. I will bring it up to them when I bring it in for service this week. I also had the same LED running light problem that I read about on this forum.

When I found the second hose I thought it was an extra so I took it out of the van and stored it in my house. I went to use the vacuum cleaner yesterday and I realized that the extra hose was actually an extension piece that clips into the existing hose so that you can reach the front floorboard. You will need that piece for sure.

I can reach all the carpeted areas of the van including the front passenger floorboard with just my primary hose but, admittedly, there's a lot of pulling and stretching going on. Extending with the second hose would likely extend the life of the first hose for sure.

The extra hose is only needed for cleaning OUTSIDE the vehicle. The main hose reaches every corner of the Pacifica.

Our dealer also neglected to install the vacuum, and it was kind of a pain to install, though that was mostly my fault. I (rather stupidly) tried to thread the extra hose, thinking the two were identical. THEY ARE NOT.

Sadly, the extra hose has a somewhat thicker connector to it, which got stuck in that hose conduit inside the vehicle and was a PAIN to remove. Literally took me an hour and I almost ripped that extra hose. Eventually I was able to get it out and put the right hose in there, which was pretty easy to get in there. I didn't use any lube.

Note that after you push it into that conduit you do need to open that little door on the side and remove a small panel to actually attach the end of the hose to the unit. It clips in there easily and works great afterwords.

Note to ChryslerCares: You guys should communicate to your dealers that they ought to be installing these vacuums as part of their prep process. This was not a very customer friendly experience IMO.

Mine wasn't installed either and I dropped off the vehicle to the dealer for them to install it. Later I get a call from the dealer stating that the tech didn't install it because it simply attaches to the empty hole and it'll work. I recall that included instruction did mention a type of lube and to thread through the empty hole.

Suggestions?

I had read in this forum that delalers weren't installing the vacuum so before I picked mine up I asked them to install it telling them that I was not handy with tools. They did it for me

Hi Mars_D,

Based on the answer I received from our Pacifica Brand contacts, the dealership is supposed to be installing the vacuum for you, and they will be trying to re-communicate this out. If your vehicle is still at the dealership, I can give them a call; just PM your VIN.

As frustrating as my experience has been at the dealer this morning (no shuttle service to pick me up, unpleasant communication on the phone with the service writer and operator, back and forth of the hose not being installed on my vehicle yet the vehicles out on the lot and in the showroom was installed), I finally had it installed after I had a talk with the service and sales managers. Had to wait longer because the work wasn't done yesterday when I dropped it off. Just to find out now, there's no crevice tool in the compartment under the hose.....

It can always be worse....

Hello - I just purchased a Pacifica as well and while the vacuum turns on and everything looks ok, it is not suctioning. I am not sure , however, if that portion of it is connected properly. Can you tell me what to do ? Thanks so much

Hi mhneel,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit a certified dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed, just send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.

Can you tell me how to clip the suction part. I just bought a Pacifica myself and while it does turn on, it does not have any suction. Can you tell me how to fix this ?

You would be far better served by purchasing a very nice portable car vac aftermarket. You could keep it in the back or in a stow n go well. Those of us that got the integrated vacuum did not get the spare tire and thus if wanted had to purchase it and stow it.
