Well it happend. One of our keysence fobs made it into our clothes washing machine. As soon as I found it, I threw it into a bag of rice.. I then carried the bag into my garage and sure enough keysence was still working. At this point I'm just leaving it in the rice to pull as much moisture out as possible. Has anyone else tested the waterproofness of these keyfobs yet?

Wow, Im surprised it still worked. I am betting you have a front load washer so there is no "soaking" or "sitting" in water like the old top loaders. Be thankful it still works. I wonder how much it would be for a replacement.

We had to buy a new fob for our 2014 T&C, it was the "insert the fob into the ignition (no push-button ignition, no key)" and "press a button" to open doors. And the dealer charged us $150 for the fob and $100 for programming. I found them later on to be a lot cheaper on the Internet, including programming instructions. I'm guessing that our keyless fobs are a lot more than that, but if we can wait a few months, they'll be selling in the Net for a lot less. And yeah, I agree, $300+ is a good guess.

Putting any kind of electronics through the washer should always have a bad outcome, even if it's sealed, and I don't think our fobs are. Putting it in rice was a good idea.

Well I took it out of the rice today and so far everything works perfectly! I know this can be misleading because sometimes corrosion kills electronics days later. I put it back in the rice and will report back.

If it is really $300 or so for a new fob then it may make sense to order the key sense so you have a 3rd fob from the start. Key sense gets you another fob for much cheaper than having to get one later.

Great point cue003, I wish I had thought of that when I ordered mine! I didn't get the Key Sense option because I no longer have young drivers but now that you mention it ... Kathy and I do keep our vehicles long enough that we almost always need at least one total replacement $200-$300 FOB (lost or drowning) and about twice more per vehicle we get by with just replacing the plastic case only (transferring the circuit board over ourselves). Darn! :crying: Haha!

I accidentally took my key fob for a swim a few days ago - about 30 seconds about 3 feet underwater - and it survived without problems. I put it upside down on a towel and then in a bag of rice and everything worked without issue the next day. I'm not sure if it's officially water resistant, but there's hope if yours goes swimming. =)
