I have a 2018 Pacifica Limited with a wifi hotspot in the UConnect system. This summer the wifi hotspot stopped working and doesn't even show the icon anymore on the UConnect touchscreen. When I go to the app to enable the wifi I can see that it is enabled and have tried to reset this. However none of my family's phones or devices see a wireless signal like we used to. I have talked to AT&T, taking it to a local dealer, and no one seems to have a solution for this. Anyone else experience something similar? The dealer said Chrysler might have a software update that will fix the problem, but so far we have not heard anything further, and I'm wondering since we don't even see the wifi icon anymore if this might also be a hardware problem?

First off I would recommend you change your user name to something else rather than your personal email address.

Try resetting the Uconnect system by pulling fuse 76 from under the hood. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, put the fuse back in, start the vehicle for a couple of minutes, shut it off, and let it sit for about 5 minutes. It will take time for all the modules to resync to the Uconnect head unit. So don't freak out when everything is missing right after pulling the fuse. I have heard from my dealer on some models it can take up to 40 minutes for some to resync. My Pacifica has only taken 5 to 15 minutes for everything to come back. If that doesn't work the Wifi Router module will need to be replaced. Just as home Wifi routers fail due to the microwaves cooking them to death, the same will happen eventually with the one in the vehicle.

Dan, was there any resolution to this? This exact thing just happened on my 2018 Limited. Has been working well for 3 years, last week the icon on the screen went away and there is no SSID being broadcast. I've pulled the fuse and there's no change. Checked AT&T and my unlimited subscription is active.

I’m having the same issue as well. Started about two months ago. I don’t recall this happening prior to October. Pulling the fuse works but is a highly inconvenient solution. I haven’t been able to identify any pattern as of yet.

To complicate matters it’s not easy for a tech at the dealer to help with nor is it consistent enough to replicate for them (as is usually required for them to fix).

My brand new 2020 Hybrid has similar issues. I enabled WiFi and it worked for about 4 hours. I changed the SSID and password and it would not accept clients. Then I noticed that I could don't make changes anymore. After reseting (soft) nothing changed. I took the advice of this forum and removed fuse 76. That worked. But all the functions came back after a few hours, including the rear camera.
WiFi worked ok for about 3 days and now it won't accept clients again.
After reseting it via fuse removal, I noticed some undesirable changes: the instant MPG reported is all over the place. Sometimes I drive on battery power and it reports 4 MPG for a few seconds and so on. Sometimes after starting the vehicle not all icons are present in the Connect system screen.
What to do now? The Wifi isn't working again and pulling that fuse is not a solution. I own this car for less than 1 month. I can't really go to the dealer with such a thing. They could not even see that the car isn't driving straight....
@ChryslerCares can help?

We recommend having your dealer inspect this concern if you have not done so already.
If additional assistance is needed during this time, we can connect you with a case specialist.

Just want to chime in that I’m having the exact same issue as well. Wifi works for about an hour at most, then will suddenly boots all clients even though uconnect thinks they’re still connected. Pulling the fuse works for a day or so, but at the expense of not having control of HVAC or use of the backup camera for about four hours. Really, really annoying. I love this van, but now feel that the few extra grand an Odyssey costs might have afforded us a reliable hot spot. Thinking of just canceling the AT&T service and going back to tethering off our cell phones like it’s 2009. Meh.

I ran into a similar wifi issue but with a slightly different symtom for my 2020 Pacifica:
  • All devices fail to connect to the wifi.
  • The wifi setup is unresponsible to new SSID and password when I update it (it will still show the old values after hitting "Okay").
This has happened a couple times in the past few months. They were not resolved by restarting the car. But it was resolved after the car was shutted off for much longer, like overnight.
I notice this happened after my car got some silent over-the-air update from Chrysler (which I know because the adaptive cruise control now accelerates more gently when the car in front of me move out of the lane).

Told my dealer about it, they said the newer Uconnect system that my car has can not be manually reset by holding down some combination of buttons. I will need to call Uconnect Assist who needs to send a "ping" to my car to trigger a reset.

(In my opinion this kind of "back door" ping communication is a security vulnerability waiting for disaster to happen. Also by not allowing user the ability to manually reset the Uconnect when the wifi glitches, it can make the situation very bad if the user in an emergency where internet resource is critical, regardless of whether or not they can reach Uconnect Assist)

Hi ChryslerCares,

I sent a note a few months ago with my VIN but haven't heard anything back yet. Any word on how we can fix this issue with the wifi? Thanks!

I have the same issue with my 2020 Pacifica. Wifi works when it wants to and then nothing. Does not broacast ssid, does not show the wifi icon on the screen. Soft reset does nothing. Dealership make an 8 am appointment to look at it. After waiting 4 hours they finally bring the van in to inspect the problem but surprise, the wifi is now working so they send me home saying we can do nothing to fix it if it's working. On the 1 hour ride back home I look over at the screen and guess what? Not working again. Dealership says nothing they can do unless it's not working when they look at it. Chrysler service is absolutely the worst I have ever dealt with. Two different dealerships and they won't even suggest a solution. They just don't care. As soon as the van is paid off it will be traded in for a non Mopar vehicle which is sad because I love the Pacifica. I had onboard wifi in my Chevy for 4 years and never an issue.

It looks like Chrysler released an update (secretly - no annoucement / notification) to my car so that now I can manually fix the wifi when it stops working by:
  • uncheck the wifi box to turn off wifi
  • return to main screen
  • go back to wifi setup screen
  • then re-enable wifi again

If it doesn't work, I shut down the car after disabling wifi, wait a minute or two, then start car and re-enable wifi. So far this method have fixed the wifi issue.
If I remember correctly in the past, the wifi check box used to be locked/unresponsive when the wifi became bad. (And the issue would resolve itself after the car was parked overnight. The alternative was, as other suggested, to use the method of messing with the fuse box.)

I have done twice the fuse 73 trick. When it stops working, it broadcasts the SSID, but no device can actually connect. Another symptom is that changes I make in the interface, like change the SSID or password, do not take effect.
Anyway after the first reset, using the fuse, everything went to factory default and many of the apps took almost half a day to reappear. But the second time, maybe I did not keep the fuse disconnected long enough (I did use a timer) but everything was there at power up, including my own SSID and password. It has been working for almost a month.

This is still much better than the past: the wifi resolve itself after the car was parked overnight
Will give this a try, thanks

I am having this problem now, too. Just bought unlimited Wifi for a cross country trip and it dies on me. It’s also been rebooting itself randomly and losing connection to Apple car play.

I don’t want to be pulling fuses out and going without core features for hours while on a road trip, so I was hoping this would work, but it did not work for me. Unless I haven’t gotten this update? Is there a way to check? This is super aggravating since I’m paying for wifi I can’t use now.

Yes, the disabling WiFi and re-enabling works sometimes, but the car needs to be stationary.
The Fuse trick disabled some features like rear camera for a few hours only when I did it the first time. The second time, everything was there, including my own SSID. It did not conk out ever since.

One more thing... The password I used the first time for my SSID was very long. My Chevy Bolt also had issues with that password. I shortened the password. In fact I used a phone number. No issues since then.

I would recommend you do the fuse. The benefits of having that data link will outweigh the slow system bootup, if that even happens. Time well your reset time to exactly 2 minutes. Maybe even less works. I mean if you only wait one minute and the problem isn't fixed... what's the harm?

The alternative is to wait for s self reset over night (you can also pull that fuse before going to bed and let initialization to happen over night) and hope the issue does not return. When it works again, change the password to something shorter.

after stopping for the night the wifi issue seems to have resolved itself, but from the sounds of things here, it might reappear any time. I guess it’s not a huge issue for me since this is the only time I’ll need the wifi (one annual road trip) so hopefully I can get through today! I appreciate the tips!
