Since I have a lame mirror with the flip button (no auto-dimming), what does this wiring harness do?

Reason for asking, figuring out how to do a mirror dash cam. I know it's been talked about a few times on other threads... looking to get the 12v to 5v converter (something like this https://www.amazon.com/HOMREE-Step-Down-Converter-Module-Adapter/dp/B07222YDG7/ref=as_li_ss_tl) and then removing the entire OEM mirror. I'd prefer to just hang the new mirror as this one is pretty thick and adding a new mirror on it would make it too bulky.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

The 3 wires are Power (ignition, on in RUN/ACC), Gnd, and the LIN bus. The LIN bus would normally be used when communicating the status of the Uconnect buttons on the mirror (if you had them), EC dimming (which again you don't have), and other things such as whether the mirror's software detects a fault.

Given that your mirror doesn't seem to have any of the advanced features, I would only be concerned that the body controller might be looking for the mirror to be on the LIN bus. I think I would try unplugging it, starting the car, and seeing if there were any faults indicated. If not, you should be good to go with replacing it.
