Have had my Pacifica for 13 days and only have 200 miles on it. On Saturday it would not start. Push start button and it would begin to start but not turn over. Got it towed to the dealer. They said it was due to a low battery so they recharged the battery. Could not find anything else wrong with it. Runs fine for next 2 days. This morning(5 days later) it won't start again. Waited about 45 minutes and tried again and it started. Check engine light came on this time and stayed on. Drove it to the dealer again. They claim they have never seen this happen before. Anyone else experience this issue? I'm afraid we have a lemon.
I had the same issue.. I have it towed to dealer.Waiting for dealer response.
it sucks.. Don't expect this to happen with a new car.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your problem. If you put your van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc.) in the signature line of the UserCP it will help others assist you (or others can be assisted by the results of the fix for your van if you post afterward). Did someone try to jump the battery before towing to see if that would help? You can private message @ChryslerCares by clicking on the red letters if you need more assistance with the dealer to resolved the problem.

Parking break wouldn't release, now car won't start

My 2017 Pacifica was having weird issues where the parking break wouldn't disengage after placing into reverse to get out of my garage and then it was having starting issues where I continuously saw the message "service shifter" on my dash screen. I took the car to Larry H. Miller on Riverdale Road in Utah on 8/24 and they completed 2 recalls that I was told should 'probably' fixed the issues. On 8/27, my car would not start at all. It was showing probably every error message that's available on the screen and the engine just wouldn't turn over, all it did was make a click sound and all of the lights and air conditioning would click on and then off very fast but only once. After a few tries, none of the light worked and the click was gone when I tried to start the car, but now the light above neutral on the shifter was flashing on and off very fast. I called LHM dealership and they provided a tow truck for me to have my car sent to their dealership (tow driver unsuccessfully attempted to jump start the car first). I informed them that this was my only automobile and I needed it to get to work and requested a loaner car, since I bought the car brand new from them and as everyone here knows, it wasn't cheap. They informed me that they would need to troubleshoot the car before Chrysler would authorize a loaner. I have now missed 2 days of work due to this and they still haven't looked at my car. I called them up to inquire about the loaner car and they informed me that they are scheduling appointments 2 weeks out and haven't had the time to get to mine. This is an issue that they are aware of, so I don't understand why they cannot issue a loaner to someone who recently spent $45000 buying a car off of their showroom floor. This is not the way that Chrysler should treat their loyal customers who have bought 3 brand new minivans from them in the past. Do anyone have any suggestions on how I should go forward with this? I really need the BRAND NEW car that I splurged for or a loaner! :(

I agree that they should give you a loaner, but if you have to miss work then maybe you should consider getting a rental or find another way to get to work. Is there somewhere you can rent a car while the van is being worked on? Sometimes you can get a better rate since it is in the shop. As I mentioned in my previous post, you can try to message @ChryslerCares to see if they can assist you.

Does your van have ESS or is it a hybrid? Some 2017 have ESS (engine stop start) and have two batteries. Were both batteries checked? Battery problems have caused similar problems to what you mentioned.

If you put your van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc. in the signature line of the UserCP it will show up all the time.

It has a gas engine and does not have ESS.

Hi vernellwoods,
I'm very sorry to hear about this but we're happy to see you were able to get your Pacifica to the dealership. Please send us a private message with your VIN and current mileage so we can look into this further.

I have the same issue as vernellwoods. Had 4 recalls fixed & am waiting in the back ordered aux battery to fix the ESS issue. Have had some issues with hard transitions from 1st to 2nd gear, but otherwise no problems.
Go to start the van today and a “Service Shifter” error appears and only the lights & a/c turn on but the car won’t start. Try again and a series of errors flash and the van still won’t start. Chrysler Roadside Assistance refuses to send a tow truck and insists I need to jump the van first even though everything inside the van turns on. It’s only a year old and this thing is falling apart. Horrible car & horrible experience.

Hello, are there any Chrysler care specialists on here? We are having the same problem, car shut off on the highway, started if jumped for a few days but now won't start. Other issues, dash went out, windows we mnt up and down on their own. We contacted the dealer, they wanted to charge to tow. I called Chrysler, the rep also said it would cost us to have it towed to the dealer. The car is still under warranty. It's sitting in our driveway dead.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you've figured out the solution for getting the van to the dealer by now. It seems like it may take a day or two to get a response from @ChryslerCares on the forum. You can send them a private message by clicking on the red @ChryslerCares letters. (Include your VIN in the private message, but not in the forum post.)

A bad battery can be a good place to start. Many forum members have reported that a bad battery can cause some unusual problems with no indication of a battery issue in gas vans less than a year old. If you can jump the van's battery and get it to the dealer or a place that tests batteries, that might be a good option.

I thought there was some roadside assistance under warranty, but you would have to check your paperwork and call that number instead of the dealer.

If you put your van info (year, trim, gas/hybrid, etc.) in the signature line of the UserCP, it will show up at the bottom of your post and someone may be able to answer your questions easier.

What was it in the end? Having an identical issue. What did it cost you?

Welcome to the forum. If you put your van info in the signature line of account settings it will show up at the bottom of your posts and will help us answer your questions easier. Build date is on the edge of the driver's door (and is more significant on 2017s).

Usually the first thing to check is the battery or batteries even if the message isn't related to a battery since a low or dying battery can sometimes give unrelated messages that make owners panic. A battery or auto parts store can test a battery if you can't get in to the dealer or if the van isn't under warranty.

Can the van be jumpstarted?

I'm not sure if the park release strap could help with a parking brake issue, but if you have a gas van, there is a one inch square trim piece (to the right of the light switches and down a bit) that has a strap behind it that can be pulled to assist in towing a gas van. A hybrid doesn't have that strap.

So, more info would be helpful if the person you quoted doesn't respond and you would like assistance from other forum members.

Hello Chrysler, same issue here. Could you contact me?
Chrysler, I too am having these issues. Can someone contact me? Personally identifiable information removed by moderator

I have had several issues with stalling and hard shifting where the dealer was unable to figure out what the problem is and let me go home with the vehicle. Car stopped while driving on a busy road, out of no where, with my infant in the back seat, we're lucky we didn't get rear ended. Now it's dead in a friends driveway, when I try to start it all the lights flicker but the engine does nothing. I think I got a service shifter error message one of the times I tried to start it and at one point the check engine light was on but the messages are different each time I try to start it. If it doesn't jump this morning I will have to have it towed to dealer and am less than confident that they will even be able to fix it, and I sure don't feel safe driving around my 3 kids in this vehicle at this point.

You must be new to forums of any kind. You should NEVER put your email address in a post. You have invited spammers to flood your inbox. I suggest you edit your post (the three vertical dots at the upper right of your post) and remove your email.

You will need to contact Chrysler directly or through @ChryslerCares and leave a message including your Pacifica's VIN. Also (as I have done) put details of your Pacifica in the Signature area of your profile.

You can try this FCA phone number: 1 (866) 275-1420 to see if Chrysler can assist the dealer in fixing the issues you are having.

Well, this has happened to my mother's Pacifica yesterday.

27,518 on the ODO.

Mother went on a trip to NYC for 3 days; completely dead after she came back. This is odd, since we went on a week long trip to Texas a year ago and it started up fine after we came back. She has also had one instance of the Infotainment screen going blank, and another with gauge cluster screen going out.

AAA managed to jump start the battery and get the car running. Took it to the dealer and the service manager said it passed the initial battery test. They are going to try and figure out what the problem is today.

She's loves driving the van, but now she's getting fed up and disappointed with it.
Mine did the same thing with 32,000 miles after not being driven for over a week and a half. AAA came to the house and jumped it off. I deliver parts for Advance part time so I went to my store and replaced the battery. Problem solved. So much electronic crap on these vehicles you will be lucky if your battery lasts more than two and a half to three years.
