I'm starting to get this more and more. I usually leave the input on SXM, and about 80% of the time when I start the car, I get this "XM Service Loading. Please Wait..." screen. That screen is up for about 45 seconds, and then right after the SXM station starts playing, it switches to the USB input by itself and starts playing from that. Then I have to switch it back to Radio to get back to SXM. It seems like the longer the car has been sitting since it was last started, the more likely it is to happen. Anyone else experiencing this? It's starting to get kinda annoying.

Yes, I'm seeing this a lot more now too. I was thinking it was because of poor reception, when in my garage and multi level public garages I notice it more. I usually see it after the van has sat overnight. Also, there are two times a year that satellites But it is just my guess.

Glad to know its not just us... but we've only had the car for a week and a half!

Mornings taking the kids to school its on the screen forever (read: around a minute?)

I, too, notice it for a few seconds each morning when backing out of the garage. Like Pappa60, I chalked it up to "garage" reception.

I don't think this particular screen has anything to do with reception. There's another screen that pops up when it's searching for a signal. This screen, to me, implies that the satellite receiver is booting up or something since the presets don't even populate until it's done. And I'm guessing the USB controller is booting up to, which is why it switches to USB when that completes.

Is everyone else also having the issue where the input switches by itself to USB after this XM Loading screen goes away? Or does yours stay on SXM?

No, I do not have that behavior. I have a USB thumb drive in the USB port at all times but usually have XM satellite set as source and it boots to XM (or the last last source used), never switches to USB unless it was selected when shut down. I have noticed that USB is also taking much longer to find songs than previously (up to 45 seconds).

Interesting. The auto-switching to USB is the most annoying part, so I'd be happy to just get that to stop.

Is anyone else seeing the XM Loading screen followed by an automatic switch to the USB input?

generaltso,

I know ANNA from ChryslerCares is looking into this for you, but based on another thread about auto door locks and Uconnect versions I know you have a much newer Uconnect version than I do (my Built date is 05-17, Uconnect ver=16.17.13).

Might be a bug introduced in your Uconnect version 16.23.23. Or one of those electronic gremlins >:) that maybe a reset would fix?

Again, I see the same thing as Pappa60: XM Loading screen that goes to the last activity (usually Radio or Media) and nothing happening with the USB port.

Definitely could be a bug in 16.23.23, but hard to say unless we get a good sampling of results from people on both versions. I did try a full reset to factory defaults to see if it would have any effect, but it didn't.

I use XM radio most of the time (90%) and it seems to be rock solid. It has never switched inputs and the XM loading screen you showed looks only vaguely familiar to me so if it has popped up at all it has been pretty rare. My version is 16.17.13

Hi generaltso,
I have looked into this further for you, and your vehicle is operating as designed. If there is a device attached to the USB port, the radio will automatically switch to MEDIA as soon as the device is powered on. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Hi Anna. I do appreciate you looking into this for me, but I don't think you're understanding the situation. I understand that Uconnect will automatically switch to the USB input when you plug in a device there. But that's not my issue. The issue is that I already have a flash drive plugged into USB that is left there all the time. Are you saying that if you leave a flash drive plugged into USB all the time, you can never listen to any other input without Uconnect constantly switching you back to USB? That can't be right.

Agreed. We leave our USB drive plugged in all of the time, and if we leave FM radio or SiriusXM playing, it stays on that source after a restart. It definitely does not switch to Media each time we start.

It's normal to switch to that input automatically when it's connected after starting the car. It's not normal to switch to the input if it's already plugged in when the car is started.
