Was Your Battery Replaced Under Recall?

Coincidentally, I already had a service appointment schedule for October 12. I called this morning to see if they would also be able to assess the Z11 recall and they said they would. I was told the documentation for the fix came in only yesterday (September 29). I was told it would take a fair amount of time as they'll need to fully charge the battery and then run diagnostics. The tests will determine whether the High Voltage Battery Pack Control Module software update is sufficient or if a new battery is also warranted. They said the batteries are available but are ordered on an as-needed basis. Not sure how long a battery replacement would take. I'll try to post updates here.

One question I forgot to ask was whether the battery's warranty would be extended whether it was replaced or not. I recall reading somewhere that an additional two years would be added. I like the idea of getting a fresh battery, but also don't want to be wasteful if the current one is guaranteed safe and working.
I FINALLY went in for my z11 recall fix today. I haven't been able to charge the van since around the time the recall was posted, and Chrysler has told me on multiple occasions its probably related to the recall but that they couldn't do anything about it. At the end of the day today they call me and tell me there is a "bad hybrid battery charger" that will charge me over 2k, and that they can't do anything about the recall unless EYE pay to fix the "bad charger"! Chrysler can [email protected]% $& @%%!!! I'm not paying a DIME to fix their problem. I'm not legally allowed to sue them again after signing something saying I would leave them alone after suing them( and winning) the first year I had the vehicle. I GUARANTEE you that if my van burns down the forest that I live in(southern Colorado) that the good state of Colorado will be the ones going after them in behalf of ALL of us

Well not being able to charge the battery from the wall at all certainly would point to a bad OBCM. And they can’t complete the recall unless they can charge the HV battery.

You also may be far too invested in this bad relationship. Just trade the thing off and buy something else.

so had my recall done, two weeks later had dtc's and was determined batteries needed replaced. Finally got it back a week ago. Today the service hybrid electric system light comes and and code is p2be0-00 hybrid ev coolant level sensor open/circuit. I'm getting fed up with paying for a vehicle that sits at the dealer. I regret doing the recall I have put more than 300 miles on since it was done. I'm also tired of getting a ram pickup as a loaner **** gas hog. Anyone else having failure after failure following Z11?

I haven’t had the Z11 recall done yet and I’m not even scheduled for it but I wonder if they didn’t correctly purge/refill the coolant system and it left an air pocket in it. Probably not that though since the error says “open/circuit”.

Just had my recall done on a 2018 w/ 64K on it. It took two weeks due to the Holidays and having to retest it, but it passed. Chrysler kept telling the dealership that it failed and that they needed to retest it. The dealership assumed it was because of the temperature, but they didn't know for sure. Seems like the test is a black box for the dealership They do X, it gives them Y, and Chrysler tells them what to do next. They can not interpret the test results.

I also asked about the Essential Car Package (2 yrs oil change / tire rotation). They said corporate would send me something after the recall showed up as completed in their system. The dealership doesn't handle that. Did anyone else get anything from corporate about it?

Please have customer allow up to 10 Business Days after Z11completion for implementation of their complimentary 2 Year Essential Care Package.

Wonder what they mean by "implemention"?

I got a call about a week afterwards to follow up that I completed the recall. They told me that the oil change care package would show up about 4 weeks so we'll see about it.

And just adding some more details regarding my Z11 recall. I mentioned prior that my vehicle is low mileage (12k for a 2018) and I been monitoring the full charge and so far it seems the same. Charging about 12.4-13.4 kw on 4 full charge (level 1 at 13a). (see attached) Mileage-wise I'm still monitoring. Initially when I got back the vehicle it was showing 29 mile on full charge but has gone back to 33miles. I'm ideally thinking I won't see those degradation error code until I have more mileage on the vehicle. My future concern is when it does pop up, I was told it should be still considered considering other's are getting their batteries replaced after maybe 2+ weeks, but who knows.

Are you certain these are all reflecting charges that started from 0% battery as shown on the dash?

Honestly the whole test procedure seems very straight forward, assuming of course that you can read, and understand how temperature works.

Yes. 0% on the dashboard prior to full charge. The one thing I'm still monitoring is actual mileage since now it's getting colder so we're using heat so the data for mileage will be inaccurate. But so far those are 4 full charges (not in order of photos) that I have taken over the 2 weeks.

You're the second person to report this and then also have charging fluctuations of up to +/- 1kWh.

This information suggests that charging percentage is only part of the story. The other part is the battery reserve which we know is intentionally governed by the battery management system and is about 25% of the total 16kWh battery.

Interesting.

Same thought as you as I saw the other thread. I thought I would record my full charge from 0 to when it was complete and just put the data out there considering also that I have a low mileage on my vehicle it would give me reference for the future when I do see some degradation on the battery.

Hey everyone. So I can't take my van back until Friday so I got to thinking maybe I'll do a quick check of coolant levels, maybe the tech didn't use a vac-n-fill for the battery cooling system after replcement. Here's some pics of what I found the main engine coolant reservoir is overfilled the battery system was well below minimum and what I assume is the inverter cooling system was just perfect. I took coolant from the overfilled reservoir and put it in the battery reservoir put it to the max line and turned on the van and like magic no more light and my code went to history. So I'm gonna keep an eye on it tomorrow and if it moves at all it's going back Friday. I hope Chrysler plans on taking care of us some how. I haven't had a cleaned or fueled vehicle on my last two visits for warranty.

Yeah if the batteries are anything like the Bolt EV there is a very specific procedure to be followed to "burp" them. Our Bolt EV's coolant was too low after the battery replacement because they didn't wait for the last part of the procedure... Ended up just filling it up with coolant specifically for the car myself so I wouldn't have to deal with them anymore.

Well mine now has the POE15 code after the recall fix. I looked at the coolant tanks and one of mine is below minimum also. I will be calling the dealership Monday. Did they even have to do anything with the coolant as part of this recall?

It wouldn’t seem like the coolant should be messed with unless they had to do something like replace the HV battery pack.
