I ordered it and it says it ships to your house - I'm guessing a usb stick or cd?

This is the first available update for our 2018, and it may be the last at this rate. $100 is still a bit steep for an update that's already a year out of date. It's not 2005 anymore. There are plenty of other options available.

For those who are interested in getting the GPS update for the built in navigation:
Thanks, just pre-ordered it. Everyone should start here to verify this is compatible with their vehicle.

Uconnect® | Navigation System GPS Map Update Home

When I got the required info entered into the website, it linked to the version 3 (V3) update. It also states that my version will require one software update included with the update drive. Not two as stated on the V2.

This is the version it specified for my software information entered.

2020 North American Map Update for Uconnect® 4C NAV w/ 8.4" touch-screen (v3): For U.S. Only | HERE

This new release is available for pre-order sales. You may place an order, but It will not ship until it is in-stock approx. February 15th. Your credit card will not be billed until the product ships. **

1) This map update is only compatible with U.S. Vehicles with 4C NAV with 8.4" touch-screen that has Application Versions MR-28.3+, JR or QR

2) You will receive a Software Update with your Map Update Package. The Software Update must be installed prior to the Map Update

I noticed this too. It almost has to be delivered on a USB drive. It would make things really difficult if they shipped it on a CD/DVD. The van doesn't have an optical drive unless you have the Uconnect theater option. Even then, I doubt it's connected to the radio in a way that allows data to be sent to it. Very few computers come with an optical drive these days as well.

I ordered it. I followed the link to get the Radio Part Information. The directions on that site leave room for confusion. They ask for the first 4 numbers after the 2 letters (IR in my case). In the cited example you get QR-34.5. That's pretty clear. However mine comes up IR SBX 22.50-2 (and more). So what is with the "SBX"? It turns out that you need to just ignore it and enter the "22.5" and you get joy. The web site doesn't like the letters.

I also went thru the UConnect website to see if it was compatible. Like Waldo, our has "IR SBX 22.5....", so I entered "IR" in the first field and "22.5" in the second. It then brought up the order entry (must be compatible, eh?) screen so I, too, bought it. This will be first map update available since new. The scary part will be installation. The last time that the dealer did a UConnnect update it destroyed the head unit and it took four months to get a replacement!

#17 ·
Mmmm . . . mine was built about a month before yours, but has a newer update. I don't think it's Canadian, as the maps are for all of North America including Mexico. I did get an over the air update about a year ago, and there was substantial improvement in the maps. You might check with your dealer, or contact Uconnect to see why you don't have that newer version.

#18 ·
Maybe something to do with the trim level. You have a Limited, mine is Touring L Plus. And being a previous daily rental, it appears it was special ordered as there was no Uconnect Theatre as was listed as included in this trim level.

I'm still thinking if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

#19 ·
Thanks for the input. I edited it so people don't inadvertently get the wrong version.

#22 ·
In your update, that SBX location would make things rather confusing. This is what mine shows.

True, but they are not as convenient, even when connected to the radio. Also, for people with limited data plans, they can get expensive.

The 2021 system will get automatic quarterly updates from TomTom.

Ordered the update and two days ago received an e-mail from "HERE-AMER-Support-Consumer@here.com" that went directly to my spam folder. Discovered it just today. Reads as follows:

Regarding your recent pre-purchase for: 2020 North American Map Update for Uconnect® 4C NAV w/ 8.4" touch-screen
  • FCA has asked HERE to delay shipment of this product because important Over-the-Air (OTA) Software updates need to be installed on your radio prior to installing any map update.
  • FCA will be pushing this update automatically to all owners over the next few months. However, as you are one of the early purchasers of the map update, FCA has agreed to prioritize your OTA update. In order to ensure you are included by FCA with the first delivery of these Software updates, HERE must provide FCA the VIN of your vehicle no later than 2/24/2021.
  • Once you have provided your VIN to HERE, by responding to this email, HERE will provide it to FCA. FCA’s current planning for the OTA updates is to send them to you in approximately 2 weeks. You will receive 2 updates a few days apart. Once FCA sends the OTA update - you will see a screen that indicates new Software is ready for your Uconnect system. Please select 'Update Now' when you see this message on your screen.
Once both of your OTA Software Updates are complete – you will have Application Version: IR-22.63

How to check your Application Version:

  1. Put the system into ‘Dealer Mode’ by holding the Driver Side Temp Up and Temp Down and Front Defrost buttons down at the same time for 7-10 seconds (location of buttons may vary across vehicles). The ‘Dealer Mode’ screen should appear.
  2. Touch ‘ System Information’
  3. Touch ‘ Radio Part Information’
  4. Within the ‘Application Version’ information row – you should see: IR-22.63
  5. Use the back arrow or ‘X’ at top right of screen to exit Dealer Mode.
Once FCA has informed HERE that map updates can be shipped, HERE will send you another email informing you of the plan for delivering your map update.

Thank you for your prompt attention to providing HERE your VIN.

Kind regards,
HERE Customer Service

I got the same WIERD email from them. This was my response to them

"Don’t know WHAT you guys are talking about. Your email does not make any sense. I DO NOT HAVE AN IR system. I ordered a MAP update for an application version USA-SBX-8.4-MR-28.4.0-20190625M0G4. It is MR v3 NOT an IR v2 system. I have a hybrid and my application version is way ahead of “IR-22.63”.

Do not send me the wrong map update. I ordered specifically for “Uconnect® 4C NAV w/ 8.4" touch-screen (v3)” MR V3, NOT an IR v2.

Here is my VIN Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

FCA had better not send the wrong OTA to my hybrid and brick the system or I will be POed!

Here is my order number: Order No. XXXXXXXXXXXX

“1) This map update is only compatible with U.S. Vehicles with 4C NAV with 8.4" touch-screen that has Application Versions MR-28.3+, JR or QR”

This is what I ordered: 2020 North American Map Update for Uconnect® 4C NAV w/ 8.4" touch-screen (v3): For U.S. Only | HERE (navigation.com) "

Normally the map update (that you have to pay for) updates streets and places --things you find on a map.

UConnect software updates the system or navigation (if you have it) and sometimes updates can be done at home with a USB and computer. A dealer can also do UConnect system updates, but sometimes they might charge after the warranty period.

The maps on the initial navigation system were outdated when I activated nav in Nov 2017 so I eventually paid for the map update in 2018 which helped. Since the 2017s don't have Android Auto/CarPlay, I will probably update maps every few years, but not yearly. It depends on how out of date it gets and how much traveling I plan to do. I could also check my cell phone info if needed, but I do like the 8.4 nav screen.

Anyone that sent their VIN to Here & Here for the early update get the over the air uconnect update? i sent mine in and got a shipping notice from fedex that has been pending. I'm thinking they got the shipping labels slapped on the map updates to send out but have to wait for chrysler to green light it before they actually ship them out. Just wondering if anyone got the over the air yet.

Have heard nothing from them or received OTAU. Not even a response to my email responding to their email that made no sense for what I ordered for my version.

Got my map update today (03/13/2021) and feel scammed.

The software update went well. Upgraded the Uconnect software from the provided USB flash drive from software version 19.26.1e/application version MR-28.4.0 to software version 20.40.27/application version QR-39.2.0

Updating the map is a ridiculous process. After updating the Uconnect software, you insert the map update USB flash drive. Then get an activation request code. Go online http://navigation.com/vp4activate and enter the product serial number from inside the map case and your email. Then you enter your product activation request code, VIN, and software number. Then it gives you the activation code. Go back to the vehicle and start it. Insert the map update USB flash drive again. Enter the activation code and allow it to update.

This map update should not be a freaking circus to start the update! This process for both updates from start to finish took about an hour and twenty minutes.

Now to the scammed part. For almost 2 years I had been running with a map from 2017. Checking the map version after the update it states it is from 2019 Q2! WTF? This is 2021 The most current map they advertised and I bought was supposed to be 2020 and I get an update from 2019 Quarter2? Next month this map update will be two years out of date!

🤯😳

@ChryslerCares what's going on with this map update?

I purchased the map update 1/29/21 and am still waiting for it to be shipped because HERE said that chrysler was holding the release of the map update pending an OTA uConnect update. For the early buyers they asked for the VIN so early purchasers could be prioritized. I provided my VIN as requested and have yet to receive this OTA update and the map update has been held back by HERE. A shipping label was created so i have to assume its packaged and ready to ship as soon as chrysler tells them they can.

Furthermore I can understand and would be as, if not more, frustrated as @ThisSuckersElectrical because its titled as "2020 North American Map Update for Uconnect® 4C NAV w/ 8.4" touch-screen (v2): For U.S. Only"

Is your "current map database" version the same as in the picture I uploaded after my upgrade?

I have had several dealer software updates and have been through the full power down isolator post recall. Later today after the software and map update I have now gotten this alert. I had 67% oil life before these updates. This had better not be the beginning of software bug problems as my hybrid has been flawless since the previous updates.

I'm glad I cancelled my order. They initially promised shipment before my planned trip to Florida in late February. When I found out they couldn't ship before the trip, I called to cancel. They tried to say it was too late to cancel even though it hadn't shipped, but finally agreed to do so. Seems like a flakey operation.

yeah, it's quite disappointing, it's too bad they won't come out with a software update to convert it over to tom tom which i'm sure they could but it would be cost prohibitive.

Side bar - this is also why i keep a paperback US Atlas in the van. i'm only 35 but I still know how to use one 🙃 i think you ask anyone any younger and they probably wouldn't even know what an atlas is. 😆 a while back they were on like a super sale because nobody was traveling but i bet you can still get them at a bargain.

Another thing I noticed, with this software update and map update they DID NOT update the nav icons. The same red and blue arrows, orange/yellow hexagon, and still a Chrylser 300. No Pacifica replacing the 300. Would be nice to use a vehicle icon but looks rather stupid when it is not what you are driving. I will still continue to use the blue arrow.

Just got off the phone with Here, after a long hold to my question about my map version I just updated, they confirmed with the Chrysler rep this is in fact map data pulled from 2019 and packaged by Chrysler as 2020 because they created the map update software in 2020. Must be cheaper to use old data to make a bigger profit and lie to the consumer.

I told them this is ridiculous that I bought a map that is going to be two years out of date next month and the representative at Here said Chrysler is the one the pulls the data and creates the updates for their navigation systems. They only provide the map data.

Called Chrysler and they stated they have nothing to do with the map updates. So both companies are pointing fingers at each other.

@ChryslerCares whats going on with this update. Placed my preorder on 1/29 then had an expected ship date of 2/23 and now it's just sitting there... trying to be cordial about this but it's very disappointing to say the least.

HERE has the map updates packaged and ready to ship to me, i even have tracking information, they are waiting for chrysler to give them the go ahead to send it from what I understand and that is all because chrysler needs to push the OTA update before the map update can be installed. Contacting HERE isn't really applicable in this case, just because HERE has been contracted for the map software if you refer the photo in earlier post on this thread you will not see any HERE labels, it's all MOPAR brands and trademarks. I can also refer back to my receipt from purchasing the map update that I purchased it from chrysler - not HERE.

What I'd like to know is why chrysler selling a map update from 2019Q2 marketed as a 2020 map update? mid-Q2 will put the map update at 2 years out of date. Just stating the facts known to us as it is right now. In fact one of the members mentioned it's 2019 data because they started the software update in 2020. Like does chrysler have only one guy working part time on it? Paid allot of cheddar for this Pacifica and a pretty penny for the update and for the first time chrysler has personally let me down as well as other members. Truly disappointing.
