Check engine light constantly on

I wish I had good advice for you. Just a lame suggestion that the engine light itself is causing it's own fault of 'light not working on dash' with a harness short. I'm guessing at anything and this could be total BS.

My car will throw up a code that lasts for a few days. I think its the code clearing because enough starts were successful so the temporary code is stored. I've had that with battery starts in the cold mornings. I think I also had a cylinder misfire once. It cleared also after a certain number of successful starts.

I do remember a recall.... for seat belt retractors? It would turn on the engine light.... it was something about it sensed it out of position and ran with it. It didn't double check for movement or something. Something set the code too quickly. A software update fixed it on one brand but you had to bring any Journeys. Different wiring kit or something.

Chasing down faulty harnesses with 'ghost codes' (I can't remember any situation or use of that term.) won't get paid for by Warranty. ..... a Ghost Code? I'm asking a service manager.
