The steering wheel tries to turn by itself when driving on uneven roads

Hi gurus,

I bought a 2017 Pacifica several weeks ago and noticed a strange issue: When I drove on uneven road (not very uneven, just normal city road), sometimes I felt the steering wheel tried to turn by itself. The force is not strong and I can hold the wheel so it won’t actually turn. But the feeling is very noticeable. It feels like that you turn the steering wheel of a toy car by turning front wheels. I am new to Pacifica but I rented one before and I didn’t have this feeling on my rental car. Actually, the good experience on the rental car is the reason why I chose to buy a Pacifica. I am not sure if this is a Pacifica only issue or is a general tuning issue or is normal. I never had this feeling before and I started have safety concern. Who knows if it will become very strong one day and flip over my car when I drive. Any idea? Should I contact dealer?
Thank you.
Hi John. I'm going to take a guess and say you have the safetytec package? If you do, it's more than likely the lane assist is trying to keep you in a lane that doesn't really exist. It happens to me sometimes when I'm exiting offramps and the lane assist thinks I'm crossing a lane but it's just an expansion joint in the road. If you don't have safetytec then your car has issues. Hope that helps and welcome to the forum.
