So the other morning, it now getting colder in Michigan, I went to hit the autostart on my 19' Pachy, and I went on about things getting ready for work. I purchased it used last Feburary, and while a mild winter for us, it was COLD as usual.

I came out about 5-10 minute's later and realized that it hadn't started. Which was odd cause it has always worked previously when Ive used it. Of course all summer long, when I wanted it to cool off etc etc...

So I jumped in, and pushed the start, and it cranked, slowly. Then it wouldn't crank at all.... I pushed the button again, it worked cranked slowly three times, but didn't fire. I began to panic waited like a full minute, and it finally cranked and started.

And it drove FINE, except the brake red dot was on. Which After I shut it off at work, and tried to restart the van, it went away. And didnt come back. And it started fine. So......

(EIGHT HOURS LATER)

As work, was ending last night... I hit the autostart again.,and the lights flashed like it strarted but it didn't do it, again.... The little eyelids didn't light up, and it did what I assumed it had done that morning. It flashed and didn't fire. Which it did not.

I came out and it acted weird for a few seconds, then it fired up. NOw Im starting to worry. I came home and had my partner take it up to his work at Advance Auto and figure out if the batteries are going. He came back about 45 minutes later and said that he and he "mechanic buddy" tested everything and the batteries are fine. Both of them are.

Now just a sidebar- These Batteries, are BOTH also the OEM from the factory. I hear your replies, I might need NEW batteries. But could it just be something else....?

I would suggest replacing the batteries if you are still on the original one from 2019. I recommend not going more than 5 years on agm and 3-4 years on regular depending on weather location. Batteries might test okay, but should be replaced regardless for peace of mind. You dont want to get to the point where it dies somewhere.

Welcome. I will say I had too many close encounters with different cars when a battery is old and for me saving a few dollars is not worth my life. And with these more modern cars, they get very sensitive when it comes to issues and any fluctuation with the batteries. I have had my 2018 with a 4 year old agm test fine, but gave me random things such as remote start not always working, sliding doors and liftgate randomly opening when I pressed the start button, etc. Once I replaced the battery on mines, no issues. So I just plan to change it every 5 years regardless of how it tests and especially before cold season hits.
