Just picked mine up after 9 days in the shop. $5489. Also replaced the oil filter adapter (cracked oil cooler) 😲. Interestingly enough, the new one the dealer installed is aluminum, like the Dorman one. Maybe they recognized that there is a design flaw there. Part number 68596318AB. The AA version is definitely plastic.

Can you take a picture of it and post here?

I will try to climb under the car today and see for myself. When I looked up the AB part number, the images showed an aluminum version. I just assumed that is what was installed. I'll verify.
It will be on the top of the engine, in the middle, nearest the passenger side.

Same issue! 62000 cylinder 3 misfire. Trying to figure out what to do!
We just bought a Pacifica used 2018 with no warranty, I guess we would change that in hindsight, but here we are having to replace the head gasket and heads or get a new engine. According to some of the quality control people we have talked to the issue is with heads made mostly in Mexico. Has anybody else heard this? I know that Chrysler can't stand behind every car they produce forever, but this is a consistent problem with alot of these cars and even though my husband worked for them and was a loyal employee and buyer of Chrysler and Dodge products I have to say this is having a large impact on the reputation of the company and all dealers and people involved with them. It really saddens me to see how the integrity of this company has gone in the garbage and noone cares. There is a class action suit for around 10 million the last I heard for vans with this problem against Chrysler , so I know they are aware of the problem.
If any one knows how to tell if we need a new engine or just the heads replaced please let me know. I need all the knowledge I can gather before I spend $5000.00 to $10000.00 to replace the engine

Hi @Elmotat. Sorry to hear of your Pacifica's engine issues. Can you please provide more info regarding the class action lawsuit you mentioned? Do you know which lawfirm is handling it?

I recently took my 2018 Pacifica Limited with just under 66k miles to dealership for a check engine light code p0303 (cylinder 3 misfire). The car would idle roughly. clearly distinguishable. No other OBDII codes. No overheating or coolant issues. The dealership mechanic diagnosed and determined a blown head gasket and requested to conduct a full engine tear down. I approved and now the dealership is having Mopar inspectors to check engine. Since I bought from a dealership in 2020 as certified pre-owned, it is still under a 7 year or 100k warranty. As anyone had any issues with getting mopar to honor the warranty? The dealership service rep is hinting that mopar sometimes will not and find ways to say the owner has not properly followed the EXACT manufacturers recommended maintenance. For example getting oil changes every 3k miles. I mean with synthetic oils, do you really need them every 3k? Also, it seems the blown head gasket is common for pacificas at such relatively low mileages. Any other owners have similar issues?
@ChryslerCares I am having this same issue. What assistance can you offer to help get this covered under warranty?

Your vehicle is under warranty if it is still under 5/60 from the original in-service date. If beyond that, with no extended warranty, you are SOL. If out of pocket, I would keep all receipts should Chrysler give an extended warranty for future reimbursement.

They will only discuss the details in a private message so if you haven't done that go ahead and send them one.

I'm having a similar problem with my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica touring L. White smoke coming from exhaust. Small amounts of coolant missing. Took it to dealer and said they tried to start it next day and won't start. 73k miles also randomly jerks at times or makes a random single cracking noise. Brakes have always squeaked got pads changed still squeaking. When I am stopped and let off brake a lil bit sounds like a ship at sea. And there's something wrong with the speaker in the driver side door sounds like someone's playing a kazoo along with the music. Annoying.

My 2018 Pacifica Limited manual says recommended oil changes are every 10k miles (not 3k) with synthetic oil required. So that is not an issue. It would have been good to get someone to approve reimbursing the repair costs in advance before doing a full engine tear down, lesson learned. Good luck!
How much did you end up paying out of pockey

Yes. This is why I would like to see a detailed report and determination. I do know chatting with the actual mechanic working on my van, he said his recommendation would be a whole new engine based on sludge in engine. I do remember him saying he took measurements of cylinder 3 and nothing was out of specs but again I did not see any report. Only conclusion I have is due to gasket failure, coolant entered engine causing enough sludge that it warrants a new engine vice cleaning out the sludge and replacing gasket.

Coincidentally you also should check out the open recalls you have for your vehicle here:

Look for the Y65 recall
That particular recall doesnt appear to have anything to do with head gasket issues. Or am i missing something?
