Alright, I am seeing confusing on other FCA forums as well. Looks like the purple OAT stuff can change color as it ages. The picture I posted of my reservoir doesn't really look purple, and doesn't really look bright orange. So I can believe that it is actually the purple stuff and has changed color. The manual makes it clear you should definitely be using OAT, but no mention of color of course.

I don't know why someone would have flushed it with orange HOAT, so I will assume I have OAT and add purple.
I know it's all confusing people keep saying purple But I don't see purple in mine. I know there is a definite purple something out there but not for the 18 Pacifica. I'll attach the same picture as the other person did And that looks just like mine, to me it looks Orange Pink may be leaning towards orange I don't know. I don't know if that stuff was totally purple in the beginning or not but I doubt it because I was just at the dealership and raise the hood on four brand-new pacifica's and they were all this same orange color just like mine attached . I am a change fluid kind of guy who knows on my 18 with 49,000 miles I'll just change it out For the same stuff but new

Do what you will. Like I said before, "The purple OAT is the only thing Chrysler has been using since 2014.". Unless they are using something more advanced for the 2021s that I am not aware of.
I'm going to venture to say That purple is not the only thing Chrysler has been using from 14 till now on every single car. On my 18 Pacifica it's orange Just like the 4 rand new ones I looked at on the dealership lot last week and popped the hood and I've got 50,000mi on mine and it's the same color..

Well just out of curiosity I went outside and took this picture. I did buy my van used with 26,000 miles from a Chrysler dealer that claimed it was owned by an elderly couple. It was bought there new and traded there and has a clean one owner no accident Carfax report. Yes I did verify this before the purchase. Yet I too have what appears to be Orange coolant despite the sticker on the tank claiming MS-12106 coolant.

Open the cap and look down in the pressure tank. But only if the engine is cool. The plastic is staining.

Here Here we have a winner Orange it is.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:(y).... I have seen a picture of the purple but that must just be for something else but with 4 brand new 2020 Pacificas on the lot with the hoods up and orange cant be wrong...I hear it must be OAT not HOAT though. Proof purple wont turn orange over time

Mopar/Chrysler does not make nor do they use an orange OAT coolant. Good luck finding it.

Note the color of the OAT "Production Part", I can't say for certain what color it is but it is certainly not purple, the OAT described as "Service Part" is definitely purple. So there was at least a period of time when vehicles were made with Chrysler OAT coolant was not purple.

The post wisejd pointed to is worth reading, but yes, the dealer is the only game in town right now, and previous formulations are not compatible. I have yet to find an aftermarket supplier that meets the specified MS.90032 standard. That standard is new since around 2014 or so. G-05 is definitely NOT compatible. It is a "hybrid organic acid technology" (HOAT) formulation and contains constituents (such as silicate and nitrite) which are not compatible with a pure OAT formula such as the MS.90032 specified for the new Pacifica.

Interestingly, in my searching on line, I see many people report that when they go to the dealer to buy the proper coolant, with the proper part number, the bottle identifies MS-12106, so there is still some confusion to go around. Mopar at least does spec that MS-12106 is an OAT coolant. I can find MS-12106 out there as I search, but no luck finding any MS.90032.

I'm still scratching my head on this a little.
I'm scratching my head to sigh***. I have the
18 Pacifica and what's In there now looks orange Pinkish (along with all the other Pacificas I see also ) more towards orange, now I hear people saying it calls for Chrysler purple which is different. Wth....😰

So I took another look at my reservoir.. opened up the lid and looked in, definitely could be considered a dirty purple. I extracted some out.... and this is what I get:

Image

Yeah thats not purple...
Well, I am going to add the purple OAT stuff when it arrives, I'll let you know if it starts gelling up. I am almost considering just doing a full flush to avoid the confusion.

Yeah all this is getting quite nutty. I've been on some other forums and they're saying that looking at the bottle it looks orange pink but when you get a flashlight look from the top down or extracted it should be purple. The real OAT is purple. This is on my 18 Pacifica cap and on the bottle look at all the numbers closely I think if you go to Chrysler and pick this up you can't go wrong If you have the 17 through 21 Pacifica . Unless you bought the car used and don't know what's in it you might want to flush it and just start from scratch just to be on the safe side

The red OAT was replaced with the purple in 2014 In all Chrysler products going forward. It actually started mid-2013 but the full change over was not until 2014. I think the red OAT may still be used in the Fiat line of cars only, but I am not 100% sure on that.

I think the problem with this coolant people are having is the light refraction through the coolant. Look at this picture, up top where the light travel is less dense it is changing to an orange tint down low it is purple.

The proper way to check OAT coolant.

Well I think I am starting to see the light now after countless hours/days of frustration. On all these different forums people are seeing orange when it should be purple and its driving everyone crazy. This frustrating coolant is Whoodini at it's best, what **** drummed this stuff up!! Orange rust at one angle, purple at another.:mad:.. I am seeing that Chrysler made the switch in '14 to the purple which is MS-12106 which is the prediluted 50/50 mix and the MS-90032 is the concentrated one, BOTH ARE THE SAME THING AND INTERCHANGABLE one is just predilluted... If you pour some into a clear glass it looks purple but when looked at through your dingy plastic coolant recovery tank it looks orange rust wth!!!.. This has caused so many people fits and doubts..Bottom line always go to the dealer spend $6 more and get the real Chrysler Mopar coolant gallon 10yr-150k mile 12106 or 90032 and do 50/50 mix, stay out of auto zone etc,, with there universal stuff.. All Pacificas 17-21 take this along with all/most jeeps14 and up.....whew, I need a pill !!

It appears over on the RAM forums coolant temp makes a difference as well. Look at these pictures posted.

2017 Coolant color

What color is your Kool-Aid (coolant)?

I have only ever checked my levels when the engine is hot because this coolant expands when hot. It has always been purple as in the hot pictures above. If cold, it can show below the minimum level. If you overfill it and it expands too much you could possibly blow a crack in the pressure tank. It is best to check the coolant levels of this product when hot. You can see the difference in expansion in the pictures above. There has to be the proper amount of air in the top of the pressure tank. Air can compress, liquids do not.
