Dent guys say their estimate is around $500 for PDR. That’s the same as my deductible for insurance for a proper repair. I’m lost now.
That seems kinda high, BUT I (personally) wouldn't want the paint work done with trying to match it & them having to blend it too.
The PDR will also be quicker versus at least a few days (assuming a body shop isn't backed up) for them to pull the dent/do the body work & paint it.

I would pay the 500 out of pocket rather than have a claim filed on my insurance. They say filing on comp does not penalize you is BS. Your rate will go up next year if you file a claim. Pay the 500 and be happy it looks like new again.

This happened to mine last week. 😡

I went to a tunnel wash last week, the prep girl hit the driver's side door with the end of the pressure washer nozzle. I was POed! The Dent Guys quoted $1,484.00 to repair the damage. Cut the clear coat and paint to the primer. They said the door, mirror, glass, handle, inner pannle, trim, and pinnacle logo would have to be removed. All clear coat stripped, damaged section sanded, repainted, blended, then entire door clear coated. New trim and Pinnacle Logo reinstalled. They said 2 to 4 days to complete the repair.

This is infuriating, especially after my vehicle has been in the shops for almost three months due to sloppy mechanic work.

The car wash is paying for the damages.

Same here - I'd rather not get paint work done

@ThisSuckersElectrical If your rates go up from a comp claim, you have a shitty insurance company.
Comp claims DO NOT raise rates, nor do collision claims that you have no fault.
Welcome to post-COVID rates. Things are not the same anymore. They now raise rates anytime just because. I am an IT professional in the insurance industry, I know what is going on and see it daily.

$500 is not at all unreasonable. Simply pay out of pocket to have it done!

Ah yes, I work in an entirely different field related to insurance, I know what I'm talking about.......

Guess that explains the deer claim, hail claim, parking lot damage, and racoon hit that were all covered by insurance last year with no rate increase though.....

Wouldn't hurt to call the city or airport long term parking company and see about their insurance coverage, it is their premises. I'm sure you don't have a history of filing fraudulent claims so they can't reasonably say its your fault or your trying to "pull a fast one" with them. Worth asking them to settle for the deductible, even if a letter from a lawyer is required. Those parking lots are cash cows.

I agree with most of the others... if it costs the same to get it fixed with paintless repair... do that. Your original paint will be way better than anything they have to do to repaint/color match/blend etc!

That’s like living with a girl who gets ugly without all the efforts and then make her pretty when it’s time to dump her. Okay not exactly but. …….LOL.

You really don't want to have this repair via the conventional method - heck, they may end up painting the entire driver side.

It is not clear whether the paint is broken. Many PDR guys will not get involved if it is. I am going through the same thing at present with our RX. My wife rubbed up against a large rock causing damage right on a sharp style line down low and breaking the paint. PDR is going to be attempted ("it's a challenge" per the repairman). Touch-up paint will then be applied. Since it is so down low, it should be ok. The repair cost will be $350 to $450.

Here, as others have said, start with some PDR opinions.
“Paint is not broken” means what…. If I try to scratch it with my nail, it doesn’t catch anywhere. I assume that’s what you mean. I’m heavily leaning towards PDR since they said it should be done in one day, but the thought is crossing in my mind to give is a try myself at least once. :D :D

Get that self-repair idea out of your mind - this is a job for a pro!

Our RX was repaired via PDR a few days ago. Here are before and after photos:

The repair came out better than expected. The broken paint was covered with factory paint stick color and clear that were scuffed and blended perfectly.

But that's on a body line and it's impossible!
