Just discovered that the sun visors can be extended in length. Put the visor in the down position and swing it over your shoulder to the left (for driver; to the right for passenger), then pull on it towards the rear to cover than nagging spot of sun sneaking in from the back. When in the down position straight ahead, it can be pulled to the right (for driver; to the left for passenger) to cover that spot where the sun sneaks in between the lowered unextended visor and the mirror. My 4Runner (4th gen; removed in 5th gen) has this feature and I actually tried it in the Pacifica a while ago, but I guess I didn't pull with enough vigor that first time.

I can't remember the last vehicle I had that did not have this "feature" -- but I remember that I was surprised when I found it those many years ago...... (probably yanked hard as I was swinging it over)

I bought my Pacifica Limited in June, so didn't know about the auto comfort feature. Now that it's getting cold (mid 30s), I noticed that every time I start the car while running errands, that the heated steering wheel and heated seats turn on by themselves. It didn't do this when I first started the van up in the garage, only when it was sitting outside for a short time before starting it. I searched and found the auto comfort setting and turned it off. I bet some people would find this feature nice to have, not me.

Follow up on a post about the shipping mode in a earlier post.

Recently I learned that the shipping mode is protected on newly shipped vehicles. Maybe not all cars but it was on the Cherokee and the Ram 1500. Both needed to have the shipping mode lock cleared by connecting the computer to the vehicle during the post delivery inspection. Fine for a customer still.

Had an impatient passenger the other day who started to open the passenger door after I stopped but before I put the van into park. I have it set that all doors unlock if one opens. The other doors did not unlock until I put the van in Park.

You can take the cup holder out of the console between the seats and wash it out. What a brilliant idea!

Norbert, now that you have a clean cup holder, contrary to anything else you may have heard, it it NOT legal to sip bourbon from it (with a very long straw) to evade open container laws. >:)

Agreed! Same applies to any of the rubberized trays/compartments, the lining pops out which makes cleaning a breeze.

I have a hidden feature that is unique:
A small crack in the engine block that oils the entire underside of the van to prevent rust.
6 week wait for a new engine. (warranty)
My van sits at a dealership, depreciating by the week.
Another feature! Accelerated depreciation.
Chrysler Cares said they would try to free an engine up (Remanufactured at that), but no joy so far.

Sorry to hear that. Any idea of the cause, or was it a defective casting?

the cause of the hairline crack is unknown. Defect I suppose. Stuff can happen.
Cause of the delay in getting a new block is extremely mysterious, and maddening. All I get is a lot of shrugs.
That is absolutely outrageous for it to take that long. How can Chrysler expect customer loyalty after you paid a ton on money and this is what you get?

I try to be philosophical, I have a stripped Dodge van to drive. But then, I didn't pay 45K to drive a stripped Dodge for 6 weeks either. 7 month old van with a cracked block and they just cannot find an engine for 6 weeks.
My Sienna was not as plush, but it was just rock solid compared to this van.
I can accept a defective block, but I am having an issue with the lack of effort to source a replacement block.

If it is an Enterprise rental, see if they have a Pacifica to swap. NYC area locations do.

FCA has had shortages of batteries as well. My Pontiac wagon in the 80's had the engine replaced twice under warranty and those were long waits, too.

It is harder to be accepting of problems when there are these parts shortages and overloaded dealer service areas with long waits for appointments.

I can't say I was happy with the two incidents with my Pacifica but my wife was livid that they took nearly 3 weeks each to resolve -- which I attributed to a shortage of workspaces in the dealership.

FCA needs to remember this is an important aspect of the customer experience -- maybe even more so than the showroom. When someone asks an owner if they are happy with a vehicle, an answer that "I really like it but customer service is lousy" is not going to bring that new person to that brand.

At least they have decided to order a new/different engine. Today makes 48 days in the shop for me and they are still working with Chrysler engineering to diagnose the cause of the misfiring engine.
